Just tried the Oracle - My thoughts

Post by dieselgal » Sat Apr 14, 2007 6:34 am

Ok, for those of us that still haven't found the right mask, I will give you my take on the Oracle. To me the description sounded perfect for me since I move a lot and can't seem to find just the perfect nasal or pillows system. Well, I got the Oracle for a decent price and decided to try it.
Results:
I have small lips and mouth (even though the hubby probably doesn't agree) I just could not get the mouth piece to feel comfortable in my mouth. It does seal very well but just not comfortable in my mouth. Another problem for me was the drooling that I had heard mentioned. I assumed thta might night affect me because I am always pretty dry but alas I am an oracle drooler.
I could tell that for some people this would be a great mask because it is not hovering over the face and eyes and would allow movement. I just wish I could report that it worked for me.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you. The Oracle is such a hard mask to adapt to-for me it is the perfect mask. I have no drooling issues;only negative is how dry it makes my mouth-goes away immediately with sip of water. I have tweaked mine a bit and made very slight changes but I understand how some people just can't use it.

Dieselgal thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Oracle. I hope you find an interface that you will like.

Like lvwildcat pointed out, not every mask is for everyone. lvwildcat, I am glad you found an interface that suits you.

Dieselgal, I too thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Oracle. This is the device that I hope works for me. (I have yet to get my equipment and I'm here becoming more educated on the topic by the minute!)

Anyway, on the drooling, I had a Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD). This device caused a lot of drooling when I began using it, but after some time it reduced and then stopped. (Sorry can't remember how long it was - must not have been long enough to be memorable : )

I'd be interested in knowing if you continue to use the device, if you also experience a reduction in salivation.
