Cruise?
Cruise?
Has anyone gone on a Cruise with there cpap? I am planning on taking a 4 night Carnivale cruise in Nov. The machine has a nice bag. I have read all the posts about flying.

Non Custody parent's deserve equal time with there children and equal right's.
I took took two cruises with cpap and had no problems. You might want to carry a set of voltage adapters that are sold at travel stores. You probably will not need them but it is a precaution in case the ship is european etc..

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body totally worn out and screaming,WOO HOO what a ride!
I'm planning a cruise this summer, too. I contacted the cruise line via my travel agent. They told me to bring a document of medical necessity, just in case, and one or two extension cords. They are supplying me 1 gallon of distilled water for my humidifier.
Have a great time!

My girlfriend and I took a cruise in Feb a year ago. She started using her CPAP machine 5 days before we left. There were no problems on the trip. The inspectors knew exactly what her machine was and we whisked through security. She took her own distilled water, but later found it was available on-board the ship. There were electrical outlets on both sides of the bed, so hooking up her machine was no problem. And since the machine completely stopped her snoring, I didn't throw her overboard while on the trip. So everything went well. But I do suggest not sleepwalking down the hallways with your mask on!

A power strip with a 15 foot cord is suggested. This will cover you for all cabin configurations on Carnival. Outlets are at a premium.
All the water onboard is purified by Osmosis. So the tap water is chemical free and almost the same as distilled, if they don't get your distilled water when you need to use it.

I arranged it with them prior to sailing day.johntee wrote:Where exactly can you get distilled water onboard? Ask your cabin steward? In the Sundries shop?
Is it a request they'd need to know about before you arrive on the boat?

Holland America had a "medical needs" form that I filled out in advance. I ordered distilled water on that form. There was a very small charge.
I also filled out info for my dad, who was travelling with a wheelchair, oxygen concentrator, and portable oxygen. There was no problem. We even had plenty of power outlets.
However, be careful about keeping your cpap as carryon. They try to have you check almost everything. Keep other carryons to a minimum so you can keep your machine. The final night, they want you to put your luggage in the hallway before you go to sleep, so they can gather it up, and of course you will want to keep the cpap that night.
I try to keep my humidifier empty during the day so that the steward won't accidently spill the water if he moves it during cleaning. Same thing at hotel rooms. At home, I just leave the water in and add more the next night.

P.S. We had a great cruise to Alaska last May!
