Average Pressure on an Auto

Post by SleepySandy » Fri Apr 20, 2007 8:37 pm

I'm still pretty new to this Auto stuff and I'm curious about the average pressure.

My average pressure has been 9.2 for 7 of the past 9 nights.

Do other Auto users see this - where the average pressure seems to be the same night after night?

Just wondering.

Probably. Part of it depends on a person's sleep consistency. But, "all things being equal", it's probably fairly consistent for most. The 90% pressure may probably vary a little more than the "average" pressure will.

What range is your machine set to.

It's 9-14.

The 90% pressure is always 10 with most of the night being spent at 9. I assume the 90% pressure doesn't do decimal increments.

At some point in the night I always hit 11. I've hit 12 on a few nights but it's always for a really short time.

When you look at your Encore Pro reports, what seems to drive your pressure up to 11 or 12? Apneas, hypopneas, leaks or snoring?
Do you see many little pressure "bumps" on your bottom (minimum pressure) line?
What is your approximate AHI looking like?

I have tons of little bumps.

My AHI is usually below 2.

Here's an example of a night with the ComfortFull 2 where I went up to 12. I guess I hit 12 because of a Flow Limitation?

Here's an example of a night with the ComfortFull 2 where I went up to 11 and didn't have any apneas:

Here's last night with the Hybrid which I'm still fighting with. I didn't hit 12 and I see that I had some apneas where the pressure didn't increase at all (right before and after hour 4). I wonder why that is.

Looks pretty darn good to me.
If you aren't having any issues with the pressure changes disturbing your sleep, you could leave it as is.
If the pressure changes do disturb your sleep, you could try a fixed pressure of 9 or 10 and see what happens.
Out of that group of charts, it looks like last night was the only one that you had a higher leakage......which is to be expected in this therapy.

Looking good.

Best wishes,

Den

Thanks, Den.

I'm really not worried about this. I was just wondering if others found that their average pressure settled on a particular number since mine seems to have done so.

But, that's a very interesting comment about the possibility of the pressure changes disturbing my sleep. I'll keep that in mind.

In terms of last night having the highest leaks - that's the night with the Hybrid. I'm having serious arguments with it and it just won't cooperate.

Sandy, your graphs look great. Looks like your machine is doing exactly what it's supposed to do. No need to change a thing that I can see.

If you decided to go straight cpap, "10" ought to do you fine.
