Local DME Replacing Resmeds

Post by Slinky » Tue May 01, 2007 2:32 pm

I spoke to my local 02 DME just a few minutes ago. They've only had to replace 4 Elites in my local area but have a "slew of them" they are replacing tomorrow in an outlying area. Replacement of my Vantage is still up in the air. I didn't get it from them and they've never sold a Vantage yet so they are checking for me on how we will go about replacing my Vantage. They did say that at first Resmed believed the problem was in the power cord which is what has caused much of the confusion with this Recall since they have determined that it is NOT the power cord but rather the problem is in the unit itself.

yep, you don't take nearly a $60 million charge against the quarterly books to replace 300,000 power cords costing only a few dollars each.

It is the socket connected inside the machine that is suspect defective and why it is such a costly recall.

When you do the math, not including administrative costs it works out to about $199 per machine. Look for a whole bunch of refurbished S8's to hit the market.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

If one can be sure they are refurbished there should be some good buys for more than a few folks out there who want a second Resmed as a backup or even a first time user or someone looking to replace their worn out or outdated xPAP.
