I'm 23, not a smoker and not fat. Woe is me. Hey, at least you're not alone.

Be glad you found out so you can fix it.
Same here... never-smoked, just turned 30, and play hours of hockey each week. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea 3 weeks ago after a cold made it so bad I couldn't move a finger for a 1/2 hour each morning. I guess the extra "blockage" was just too much. I couldn't even move an arm to hit the alarm clock!

Granted I was a little sick, but it was several days in a row of waking up in the middle of the night and "dead" mornings that drove me to a sleep study.

My family always said I snore loud, and I know I simply CAN NOT fall asleep on my back no matter how hard I tried.

After a week with a APAP we fixed my REMstar Plus M-series w/C-flex at 10cm H2O. I bought the REMstar PRO upgrade (smart card module w/card) and Encore Pro Data Management Software package (v1.8i) from https://www.cpap.com that day (it all arrived today).

The past 3 weeks has been the best sleep I've had in months, maybe longer... I actually wake up refreshed! I love my CPAP... I just wish I was diagnosed SOONER!

I'm 42, 205 lbs, and have had this creeping on with the last 75 lbs. I have been an intermittent smoker, and I have lots of respiratory problems that have increased in the past 12 years. I slowed down, the weight crept up, the asthma became full time, the allergies became full time (instead of just seasonal for both) and now my mother won't share a hotel room with me because my snoring is so bad. The year before we were still sharing a hotel room, and she just complained about my snoring. This year, she insisted on separate rooms. I made the appointment with my doctor as soon as we got back from the trip.

My blood pressure is low, my cholesterol is not as good as it should be, but responds quickly to changes in diet, and other than the above, I'm pretty healthy.

Everyone just keeps telling me to lose the weight and it will all get better. They fail to realize I gained the weight to shield myself from all the stuff that I didn't like. So, maybe CPAP will make a difference. Maybe I'll wake up with more energy and want to work out.

I'm not 100% buying it, but I'm a consumer, so I bought the machine.

Cheers,
B.
