OPUS Mask - A Pay forward!

Post by SleepyNoMore » Sat Sep 06, 2008 8:52 pm

Hey,

I have a used and previously owned Opus mask & headgear with 1 nasal pillow cushion that was KINDLY given to me to try (Thank You abysmillard)! for giving me the chance to try it out without having to buy it, although it didn't work out fo me either...

I would now like to "Pay It Forward" to someone else that has been wanting to try it or to someone in much need of a mask that can't afford one or has to pay out of pocket like I do!

Please PM me, I just ask for the cost of Shipping & Handling, I was charged $7.00 to ship it and I figure that's what it will cost to have it shipped , U.S. only.

Hello: I am a new chatroom member as of today and not sure of how to send and receive responses. I would love to try Opus. I currently use Puritan Bennett nasal pillow headgear, but I understand that Opus nasal pillows are quieter. I like Puritan Bennet head straps. Not sure about Opus, seems like the tubing would brush across your forehead when turning and not hold unit stable. Any feedback? For $7.00 I would be happy to try it and 'pay it forward' too if it doesn't work out. Thank you in advance, wjh

In my personal opinion, this is what the forum is all about. Good on ya, SleepyNoMore! And, way to go, wjh, you are on the way to becoming a proactive CPAP-er. Image

When I used the Opus, which I really liked, I found that it was crucial to use the provided "nametag" clip with Velcro cord wrap. I wrapped the Velcro cord wrap around the gradually increased (or narrowed, depending on the end you start with) tubing leading to the mask. Similar Example of Hose Clip I clipped the clip on my PJ's at chest level so there was about an inch of "slack" (which wasn't really slack but helped keep the mask in place).

That said, there are certainly others who found the clip to be useless or even detrimental if used as I did. We are all so different that I am constantly amazed that there is so much potential for variation in the human genome.

I don't have the chin for it, but the mask was a good one and my brother has enjoyed using it. (He got the chin in the family.) I did take off the chin strap and tie a tights' leg through the slots and around the back of my head. This was an improvement, but really the whole idea wasn't the best for me.

I hope that it works well for you, wjh.

Welcome to the forum, and good sleeping.
