why do I wake up with or without mask??

Post by Sleepy-me » Wed Oct 13, 2004 7:37 am

Hi Everyone,

I've been a cpaper for a month now, yep adjusted to the mask. But still no matter if wearing the mask or not. I still wake up 2-3 times during the night.

Do you think I wake up because me mouth opens, and that causes me to wake up??? Once I go to sleep the mask doesn't bother me. An yes I do put it back on after I wake up and go to the bathroom.

Have read other post saying they used an bandage (ace-wrap) to keep mouth closed. Think I'll give that a try tonight.

Thanks

Jan

Hi Jan,

My mouth used to open during the night and I would wake up choaking and really dry mouth so I got a chin strap (Deluxe from ResMed) from my DME and now its ok and I sleep through the night except that I get up once to go to the bathroom and that has to do with my age (65) so the chin strap helped me totally.

Hope this helps.

Judy

Thanks

You are welcome!
Someone on this list mentioned an ace bandage. I don't know if they said to cut the one end to measure it around your chin up to the top of your head or what. Someone else said that they taped their mouth shut. I don't like the idea of that for myself.

Hope you find a solution because that dry mouth is a real bummer.
