From The Cleveland Clinic Noninvasive positive pressure ventilation: Increasing use in acute care In 1936, Poulton and Oxon [7] described their “pulmonary plus pressure machine,” which used a vacuum cleaner blower and a mask to increase the alveolar pressure and thus counteract the increased intrapu...

Re: OT: Switched from smoking to e-cigs
Oops! I didn't mean to hijack an extremely important thread in mollete's excellent CPAP Basics series. I was realizing this at about the same time. I went to delete my post but Dori had already responded to it, so I can't. I was looking for a way to PM you but it looks like you've disabled that I w...

Re: OT: Switched from smoking to e-cigs
Hi deerslayer Good to see you, longtime friend. No, the ones I use don't light up at the end. You're probably thinking about the "Blu" e-cig. Mine are both much larger (larger batteries) than the usual e-cigs that are at convenience stores and gas stations. Mine last a day or two between charges, an...

OT: Switched from smoking to e-cigs
Oops! I didn't mean to hijack an extremely important thread in mollete's excellent CPAP Basics series. So, I'm putting what I wrote here, as an OT subject (an O ff T opic subject... not about "cpap" things) WTG, Kate. The V2 is a convenient size e-cig, from what I've read on the ECF . Here are the t...

WTG, Kate.
The V2 is a convenient size e-cig, from what I've read on the ECF.
Here are the two I use:
Hope all goes well for you, Kate.

Re: CPAP Basics - 10 - NPSG
I think that, technically, a lot more older people get more SWS than their NPSG shows. SWS is scored by (among other things) the height (amplitude) of the EEG, which often decreases as they age (or fry their brain with drugs, booze, etc.). "IMHO", the 2008 or 2012 "Da Rules" book should have allowe...

Re: Aeiomed Headrest is dead
Fortunately I've been hoarding them the past 20+ months and have enough for a few years. Same here. I've stashed enough of them to last well past my expiration date. I should will whatever's remaining to you, dtsm. Now if they stopped making pantyhose tights, I would be out of luck! Topic started b...

Re: Poll - How many machines do you own?
A dozen or so. What a crazy hobby this turned into, for me. But it varies based on the day. Maybe I should not have voted, my situation is somewhat unique. I can see you grinning as you read my number, Mark! I wasn't sure what the criteria for the "Hoarder" category was, but I contemplated placing m...

Re: Can't afford sleep study
I'm sure asking this next question is like asking whether to buy a Ford or Chevy, but - given the choice between a new Devilbiss @$525 and lightly used ResMed S9 at same price, which would be the better choice??? Assuming the lightly used ResMed S9 is the model called either of these names: "Autose...
