ATTENTION ALL BREEZE USERS....help

Post by 53now » Sat Oct 30, 2004 11:27 pm

After scanning posts in several Cpap Forum sites, It doesn't take long to figure out that the Activa and the Breeze have some very faithful users. I tried the Breeze 3 years ago. I have a small head (balding also). The 2001 version of the Breeze just did not work for me. After reading so many wonderful comments about this Interface, I thought I would give it another shot. Hummmmmm ....well !!!!! No luck again. My question... I sleep on my back, so.....how in the world do you sleep with this metal shaft and plastic pad running down the back of your head ??? I have read so many posts about this piece of equipent I think I could write a book. Shooooo Weeeeee. I love the nasal part but the headgear is just giving me fits. Any suggestions ? thanks so much

I've heard of some users putting foam between their head and the hard plastiic back end of the headgear.

Actually, as much as I love the Breeze (I'm a side sleeper and the headgear fits me fine) I think there's another interface that would probably suit you much, much better if you primarily sleep on your back. The Swift by ResMed. I just received a Swift a few days ago. In trying out the Swift, I noticed that it's absolutely comfortable when you lie on your back. The nasal pillows don't get dislodged, because there's nothing behind your head but the pillow you sleep on.

The Swift's nasal cushion and the nasal pillows themselves are very cushy and soft. I can't imagine a more comfortable interface for anyone who likes nasal pillows and wants to sleep on their back. There is a constant whoooosh sound of air flow that I find somewhat annoying with the Swift, but that would be a minor tradeoff for the sheer comfort of sleeping on one's back while using a nasal pillows interface that has nothing hard behind the head.

I generally go to sleep on my back, then switch to my Left side after a while. (I get punched if I turn onto my right side and aim the exhaust ports at my wife!!! Kidding, not really punched but rapidly awoken!)
Anyway, back when I liked the Breeze, before it broke and I had to replace the plenum, I used to adjust the back pad so it was at th very top of the back part of my head. Kind of hard to describe, but try moving it around some to see where it's comfortable.
Since replacing the Plenum, I can't get it to fit comfortably at all, so I'm going to try the Swift as soon as it's in stock and shipped!
Good Luck! After I got everything right the Breeze was wonderful until it broke.
The Activa remains my favorite, but I'd really like to find an alternative mask to switch off once in a while!

Here's a link to a post by a cpaper that had some success lessening with the loud exhaust of the resmed swift.

I'm going to try the swift as soon as my insurance allows me to buy another mask. I'm impressed with my resmed made activa and hope the swift is as inovative. I too would find it hard deal with the breeze hose configuration down the back of my head.
Sincerely,
