Re: Resmed Mirage Quattro causing sore nose bridge

My UMFF caused a red sore on the bridge of my nose, but after about two weeks it went away. My brother experienced the same thing. I haven't had that problem since. I guess the skin adjusts somehow.

Re: EDS Denial or 'The Frog in Boiling Water'

I've noticed some interesting changes with regard to caffeine and CPAP therapy. Previous to using CPAP, I had major caffeine crashes in the afternoons when I had caffeine in the morning. To the point where I would sometimes cry on my drive home from work. It was horrible, but I was so tired at work ...

Re: Change mask setting on a ResmedS8 AutoSet II

Hi, PeterC.

Hold down the right and down buttons for several seconds. This will give you the Clinicians menu. Go to settings and scroll down to mask type, then you can choose "Change."

Would I Benefit from BiPAP or ST?

I suffer mostly from hypopneas, with an AHI typically between 5 and 10. Many nights my AI is 0 as are my leaks. I suspect my hypopneas are central in nature, as my sleep study showed no obstructive apneas but several centrals. My AHI in sleep study was 36. I am titrated at 9 per my sleep study, and ...

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/video/module.html?mod=0&pkg=13082008&seg=3 You could show the video clip and the PBS clip to both your husband AND his family. If you could get him to give it another try and maybe sign up and post on this forum then I'm sure he would stand a better chance second time ar...

I think it is wrong to steal, and cowardly to use the government to steal for you.

Civilization is not about being your brother's keeper. Civilization is the process of setting man free from men.

Re: Where Do You Place Your Machine?

Thanks for all the great feedback everybody. Last night I tried putting the machine in the nightstand drawer and it worked out really well. Seems kind of obvious now that I've done it. Very secure and I actually prefer the height. I can just lean over a bit and see the display and buttons easier.

Or to put it another way, correlation is not causation. Still a very interesting finding that sounds worthy of more research.

Where Do You Place Your Machine?

I've been placing my S8 on my nightstand, but a couple nights ago I got wrapped up in the hose and pulled it onto the floor. It made a big crash but it seems there was no damage done. Now I'm paranoid about having a repeat. I've thought about placing the machine on the floor but breathing floor air ...

What's the difference between an APAP with EPR 2 and a BiPAP with the settings 2 cm apart?

Re: any recommendation for a mouth breather

I'm a hard-core mouth breather and went straight to the full face mask. At first it was a little claustrophobic (less than five minutes) but now the sensation is associated with good things and I go right to sleep.

1. Yes. It's offered for free at work and strongly encouraged.
2. I don't know enough to have an educated opinion.

Turning on EPR Improved my AHI

I just pass this along as another data point. After trying many different pressure settings I finally decided that my titration study arrived at the correct pressure of 9, but I had been unable to get my AHI below 16. My AI was usually around 4 or less. I then decided to finally try EPR, setting it ...
