Re: Throat Clearing-Irritation Not CPAP-Related

John Fisher posted in the most recent ASV thread that getting real sleep allows your body to do a lot more lung clearing and that it will taper off over time...

My quick response... Ask him if he will read a little on this site. He is not just risking loosing his job. He is risking heart attack or loosing his life. Maybe he will become more compliant if he know the stakes are higher than he thinks.

Re: Acidosis diagnosed, what is Acidosis?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arterial_blood_gas There are a ton of reasons why your CO2 partial pressure might be high, lowering your blood pH = acidosis. I am not an expert but here is my list as I relate it to sleep apnea... You may not be exchanging oxygen well. Sort of pre COPD, are you a smoker...

Re: How do I stop the lightheadedness?

Anxiety can make you breath more often than you need to. I hyperventillated (or tried to) frequently when I first started on the mask. Try to get calm and forget about your breathing. Now, I do not have a CPAP. But, I will speculate that when lying down sleeping the pressure needed to keep your airw...

Re:Help: New ASV user. Here's my story

OK now, change the thread title by editing the subject. Try: "Help: New ASV user. Here's my story". That will get one of the ResMed S9 VPap Adapt users to pop around and see whats up. I am certain your machine is data capable and all you need is the memory stick, a reader, and the software. I have t...

Re: frequent nighttime urination

Frequent nighttime urination or nocturia. Sleep apnea causes increased pressure on the right side of the heart as a result of low oxygen levels in the blood. Since increased pressure is also a sign of excess body fluids, doctors believe the body responds by secreting a hormone called atrial natriur...

Re: Not feeling *AS* bad when waking up after CPAP now

With respect to the tingling pinky... Next time it happens try hanging your arm over your head. If the tingling goes away its because of a nerve pinch or stretch from your vertebrae (according to a PT friend of mine). I get it when my arms are hanging down walking or when I lay supine with my arms a...

Re: i dont know why i rip my mask off at night.

Go into your user control panel and select your equipment as text. Its common to keep taking off your mask at night. I did it for weeks and still do it occasionally. It takes time for your sleeping self to decide the mask is good. Just put it back on and after a while you will start leaving it on. I...

Re: Help: I'm new to all of this. Here's my story.

Wollybugger, welcome to the forums. Your story is quite similar to mine in that my mom and sister both have RLS also, but I seem to have dodged that bullet. I developed CSA like gangbusters at the age of 55. Although, it may possibly have been simmering for many years. Now, my 80 year old mom also h...

Re: at the end of day 5 i feel worse, lethargic

My sleep doctor warned me that sometimes the mind can take up to a month to trust the cpap machine. For many years it stood on guard, sleeping with one eye open so to speak to keep you alive and get you breathing again. Now you stick a strange thing over it and expect it to shut up and go to sleep,...

Re: Testing new way of posting images/ASV

I don't care for the pressure display. I like having the set IPAP and EPAP lines there and then seeing how the readings spike above them. Also, I like being able to see the IPAP and EPAP base line stepping up or down. I have a suggestion about POX. I was thinking about this the other night. I think ...
