Re: Full time RV with CPAP
SNIP I really know next to nothing at this point about power systems and feeling a little out of my depth. Do you run all those things at the same time on battery? I could but usually didn't. Maybe one laptop, the wireless router, TV and sat receiver. That was pretty close to 180 watts which is abo...

Re: Full time RV with CPAP
I am coming to this party a little late. I also lived full time in my RV for 5 years and half time for 5 years before that. I was never able to justify the cost of solar, but the cost has been coming down. Solar panels come in many sizes from 15 watts to at least 250 watts each. So counting the num...

Re: Full time RV with CPAP
I do agree with your husband on the 50" TV. LOL. In the last few years I have gone from a full size tv to a small monitor to the lap top. Now I mostly use the tablet to watch online shows while I am knitting. The occasional glance up is sufficient for most shows. We literally only bought the TV las...

Re: Full time RV with CPAP
One more question about the laptop. I looked up Dc laptops, but if I'm understanding what I'm reading correctly, all laptops run on DC power and the AC from the wall is converted to DC in the power brick. Is that right? So what I need is not a laptop that runs on DC, but a DC-DC converter to change ...

Re: Full time RV with CPAP
Taking advantage any charge source is good, but it takes several hours to charge a computer and in the end you've only taken in a few amp hours. A big house bank can accept much more power so you should really focus on keeping that happy. If you want to think emergency backup, remember the cars alt...

Re: Full time RV with CPAP
If you can afford it, more power to you. You're punny! Our budget is $50K to be road ready - so the (used) RV itself, trailer for the car, solar/batteries, satellite internet equipment, whatever devices we replace, whatever else we need to buy for or replace in the RV. We're not rich by any means (...

Re: Full time RV with CPAP
You could get a XPAP that runs on 12 volt d/c, much more power friendly, using real world power options. You could get more deep cycle batteries, to add to the capacity of your rv power. Jim I bought my current unit out of pocket just last year and I'm very happy with it. I'd prefer to buy a batter...

Re: Full time RV with CPAP
First off, I know there are threads here about camping with CPAP, and I have read through some of them... But my search on 'RV' came up short... Although my posts usually are in response to questions on camping or backup, my real experience is living on a boat completely off-grid for several months...

Re: Mouth Breather
After being aggravated with chin straps for 2 1/2 years, this is my solution. 1)Tear 2 lengths of 1/2" strips of paper tape. Stick under each nostril to under the chin. 2) tear a piece of 1" paper tape and put across the lips. My mouth stays shut! If I need water, I pull back a portion of tape at o...

Re: Full time RV with CPAP
We lived full time in our motor home for 11 years. Although we did almost no boondocking and almost always had shore power available I did set up for battery use when necessary. ( It was not uncommon to have power outages in some RV parks). At first I used a 300 watt modified sine wave inverter. My...

Re: Full time RV with CPAP
Why not just plug your cpap machine into the RV's "house battery" by getting a cord for the cigarette lighter.....DC to DC? The RVs engine or solar panel is usually set up to charge up the house battery anyway. I carry a "normal battery charger" and just got a "battery tender" for when I have AC po...

Full time RV with CPAP
First off, I know there are threads here about camping with CPAP, and I have read through some of them... But my search on 'RV' came up short. There is very limited info on RV sites about CPAP so I hope someone here can chime in. My husband and I are in the planning stages of moving into an RV and t...

You're lucky Ambien worked for so many years. Did you suffer withdrawal symptoms, or were you able to quit without tapering? I'd been taking small doses of clonazepam but not for nearly as long. But I can't just step off, am working on tapering and experiencing off and on withdrawal headache. No, t...

Re: Change in Medicare replacement equipment coverage?
Do people really need to replace the pillows that often? I think I've been using the same ones for at least 6 months now and they seems to still be working fine. Are some people wearing them out with excessive cleaning? I replace my pillows when they begin to leak and keep me or my bed partner awak...
