Re: Change in Medicare replacement equipment coverage?
Apria policy changed. They were in error with the every 2 month thing and someone finally woke up and realized they were missing out on a golden goose who could spit out 2 nasal pillows per month. They were missing out on revenue and now they realize they can make more money and that's why they are...

Change in Medicare replacement equipment coverage?
Random unimportant question here but I'm curious if there was some change in Medicare's equipment replacement coverage. I've been using a nasal pillow mask almost since the beginning of CPAP five years ago. In the beginning, Apria flat out refused to provide me with two pillows per month, saying tha...

Re: Does OSA really cause Insomnia?/Ins Q CPAP Coverage w.AHI 13
In my experience, CPAP cured my insomnia within the first few weeks of beginning therapy after I adjusted to the machine. I used Ambien nightly for almost a decade and haven't popped a pill to sleep in just about five years now since I've been on CPAP. A friend who has mild apnea tried CPAP for abou...

Re: Rain out or heated hose
He also told me I can not order any supplies until January 2017, witch would be 6 months. But the paper work he gave me of the plan shows I can order some at 3 months and others at 6. Your paperwork is correct about replacement schedules which are fairly uniform and generally seem to follow Medicar...

Re: Why many are still tired after starting CPCAP
Yeah, this whole OSA is a fat people's problem is old and outdated thinking. I have lost over 100 pounds since starting CPAP 5 years ago. I am now a "normal" weight (under 25 BMI) and still on CPAP and always will be. My doctors were so excited to do another sleep study after I'd lost about 80 lbs. ...

You mean I only have four years before I'm old? I better cram a lot of life in the next four years.

Re: Only one nostril works
I was never able to get used to FFM and there were too many leaks going into my eyes. I used the Swift FX for three years but my partner complained about the whistling when it lost seal at the top of my narrow nostril. I love the Pilairo Q. I have had some moisture issues in it, but Pugsy suggested ...

Re: Only one nostril works
AMK, I also have two different sized nostrils with my right one narrower as well. I've just switched to the Pilairo Q mask as it is very forgiving of nostril openings. Most of the pillow is very soft and comfortable but the actual part that goes into the nostril is a little firmer than most pillows ...

Re: OT - Statins and You
I had borderline high cholesterol at 33. I went vegan, lost 100 lbs and My cholesterol is perfect now. High LDL, low HDL. And I feel better than ever. My father had a severe reaction to Lipitor, ended up in the hospital where he acquired the 2009 H1N1 swine flu, which severely damaged his airways. H...

Re: Pilairo Q moisture buildup
Thanks Pugsy. That's a great hypothesis. I'll test that by increasing the hose temp again. I had lowered it because of running out of water in my humidifier chamber, but the house humidity has been higher as it warms up outside, so hopefully I won't be chasing my tail with lowering and raising the h...

Re: Diagnosed with Severe at 21 and 15% bodyfat
Don't worry about your age. I was only 26 with a 22 BMI when I was first diagnosed. OSA has to do with the size of your airway and whether your airway relaxes and closes off during sleep. It isn't a disease of fat and old people. It's just that many aren't diagnosed until they are fat or old or both...

Re: Pilairo Q moisture buildup
I didn't have problem with rainout. The Pilairo Q has been a godsend in every other way as far as fit, leaks and comfort. I just don't like the nasal rinse.LSAT wrote:I guess you could go back to the P10 or Swift FX since you didn't have the problem with them.

Re: CPAP does not appear to be helping you - ANOTHER PROBLEM?
I did not know sleep apnea could cause heart problems, Julia. I'm only 36 but underwent extensive cardiac testing last year because of racing heartbeat and passing out randomly (and sometimes feeling like a balloon is inflating in my chest). Was finally told my blood pressure was too low (as low as ...

Pilairo Q moisture buildup
I'm trying to figure out why my new Pilairo Q mask seems to have issues with rainout when my P10 and Swift FX don't. The humidifier and hose temp settings are exactly the same - 6 and 80F, respectively. But I get moisture buildup in my Pilairo Q mask that is causing irritation on my nostrils. The ho...

If you barely know someone, isn't it a bit early to think about knocking boots? {{{somebody had to mention this!}}} Oh come on - your age is showing. My parents thought the way you do - but now days knocking boots sometimes happens on the first date, right after the second glass of wine. Depends on...
