Re: Another Stupid Question

The machine now showing in the equipment profile is the PR System One Plus cpap machine...that would be model 250 and there is no AHI data available on it. The humidifier chosen won't work with that machine at all. I suspect that incorrect equipment has been chosen. You might turn over your machine...

Re: Another Stupid Question

As a home experiment you could begin to lower your CPAP pressure and see if your AHI numbers go up with the decrease in pressure -- that could give you a good clue as to if your apnea is actually improving or not. I have been losing weight and I've often wondered if my apneas would ever decrease to...

Another Stupid Question

If your AHI (using sleepyhead) decreases to a point where you no longer have events or few few during the night, is it possible that the sleepy apnea is getting better and worthy of getting a professional retest? Or does it mean that equipment is working well? It seems as though I have noticed a dro...

Re: Philips Respironics vs Resmed S9

Thanks for your replies. I think after reading your responses, I'm going to stay with what I know works for me which is the Phillips since there doesn't seem to be a great difference in the two.

Re: Question about Oximeter Report

Kennerly, I haven't tried to sync them other than to to start them both as close together as possible. I them just find the approximate start time on Rescan and use that as the zero start on the oximeter. It is not perfect but I'm not looking for minute changes. Actually I have a problem with the 4...

Philips Respironics vs Resmed S9

Currently using a Philips Respironics System One RemStar Pro with C-Flex+ (460P). I have the opportunity to get a new unit of my choice at no cost. The DME is going to give me a new unit of my choice Monday including the humidifer. Which one would you prefer? The DME person I spoke seems to lean tow...

Re: Question about Oximeter Report

The problem is the shock to your heart. The chemicals produced during the fight or flight response do damage to the cardiovascular system. You can safely handle one occurrence a day, but several per hour overloads the bodies ability to cope. One per day? How then does an AHI of 5 (5 events per hour...

Re: Need advise: about selling old sleep device

Yea requires Rx so technically you can't sell it to a person unless they have a prescription to purchase it and you have a license to sell it. I think that's the way it works. But that's not to say you can't list it on Craig's list and very possibly sell it. I could be wrong, this is just my thought...

Re: Question about Oximeter Report

Thanks for the excellent replies. If you have the desats (assuming you had no cpap on) but they don't drop below a safe limit and they don't disturb your sleep, where does the harm to the body come in? I'm pretty sure it does still is kind of a shock on your heart even with safe 02 levels but I don'...

Re: Tooth Enamel/ CPAP Question

You need to get your GERD under control. If it's not better after 2 years on CPAP it's time to get serious about that. If the acid is doing that to the hard enamel of your teeth, think about what it's doing to the lining of your esophagus! Unfortunately, most medical doctors throw Omeperazole at yo...
