Re: ResMed VPAP S - Got some learning to do.
My settings are 10/13 as well on the VPAP S. AHI always under 1. I replaced a 13.5 year old VPAP last week and this new one is super duper quiet.

Re: When do you check your Data?
Just completed 7 days with a data capable machine so I'm all amped up about the technology that's come along since I began therapy in 2001 with the same machine all the years. I look at the data every evening before bedtime. Happy to say I've never seen an AHI greater than 1.47 and lowest so far is ...

What type of equipment was written on the script and what equipment was substituted? Or was the script generic with no brand mentioned?

You didn't get a copy of the prescription?

Re: What Should I Ask Sleep Medicine Doctor on First Visit
I called directly to a sleep doctor "in network" to schedule my initial consultation rather than wasting a visit to my PCP. Filled out a form asking about sleep and such, consulted with the doctor and scheduled the sleep study. I asked for an at-home study rather than at a clinic since I've used vpa...

Re: Is there is a machine replacement schedule?
My insurance, United Healthcare, uses 3 years in the handbook for replacement of equipment. I'm sure its case-by-case and type of equipment, though.
I'm approaching 36,000 hrs on my 13.5 year old machine.

Re: New machine?
My machine is 13.5 years old with 36,000 hours. I'm in the process of getting a new one simply because I know it will die eventually.
But I should have kept up with technology, though. I just hate all the studies, appointments and insurance stuff. Five years sounds like a good number.

Re: Long-necked non-obese "moderate" apnea seeking advice
Be sure to get a copy of your prescription. I would get a data-capable machine: Resmed S9 Autoset with humidifier. Make sure the prescription specifies "Resmed S9 Autoset with humidifier". There are a lot of scam-artists out there. A data-capable machine will allow you to track your therapy and lea...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
I've been a Bipap user for 13 1/2 years. Same machine approaching 36,000 hours. I couldn't imagine not sleeping with the machine. In fact, I had anxiety from the recent two-night at-home sleep test without my blankey lol. Anyhow I'm about to get a new machine but prior to these last several years, I...

Thanks Bookbear. Trying to get a new machine after using mine nightly for 13.5 years. Might as well look at the new masks too.

I've used Breeze for probably 10 years. Thinking of trying that P10 that shows in your profile. How was the switch for you?

It's a completely new experience and could take you a while to get used to it but once you've gotten it down, for me anyhow, I can't sleep without it and actually look forward to sleep

Re: 35,600 hrs time to upgrade
I had no idea a dentist could write a scrip. It being 13+ years, I suppose some type of study is warranted. My primary doctor is only interested in money and would give me a referral only so I bypassed that waste and went directly to the original sleep doc. He couldn't get my original records from h...

35,600 hrs time to upgrade
So 13 years and four months of nightly use (except for the few days after hurricanes in 2004), I'm in the process of obtaining a prescription to upgrade my bipap machine. It still runs beautifully, but know it's exceeded it's life expectancy. Found my original sleep doctor though he's with another m...
