Re: My back up power set up questions

Wow there is great stuff here. Thanks for feedback Archangle and Capnloki. I got up early this morning and used my PC instead of my iPad to cruise the forum and thought it would be wise to search a bit for things. I found an excellent topic that John posted 18 months ago that was a very thorough bat...

Re: My back up power set up questions

I'm interested in doing the measurement. I have to cobble together a shunt measurement jig. I can rip a connector from a dead HP laptop and use a dead HP laptop cord since conveniently it uses the same connector as the Respironics 60 series. My plan is to hook the Respironics DC battery cable to my ...

Re: Barriers to diagnosis

People kept telling me for the past 5 years that I had a problem and I knew I had sleep apnea. But I have always been a hyperchondriac (opposite of a hypochondriac). I call it the Little League syndrome - meaning you get hit by a line drive baseball off of the bat and coach says "shake it off". I've...

Re: sleepyhead software

The Respironics model 560 can be setup in what they call C-Flex or C-Flex+ when it is set to CPAP mode instead of APAP mode. In APAP mode on the 560 you can choose A-Flex. The label near the knob on the machine says A-Flex but it can completely emulate the model 460 CPAP with C-Flex+.

My back up power set up questions

I actually tried to see if I could push some charge back into a jump-pack through its jumper cables. My conclusion is that for product safety reasons they built in a diode to prevent current flowing into the jump pack through the jumper cables that are meant to source current. Has anyone done a seri...

Re: increased sense of smell after removing mask in morning

Been using CPAP now for only three weeks, and after a few days I remember telling my wife the same thing about having an enhanced sense of smell right after taking the mask off.

Re: I'm sleeping on my back thanks to Wisp

The Wisp is my first mask and I see no reason to change other than maybe I'll get a full face mask to keep handy for the eventual cold that could leave my nose plugged. I enjoy sleeping on my back and on my sides but my right shoulder isn't happy if I sleep on that side too long. Before starting CPA...

Re: My SpO2 was reported as a low of 52% during my sleep study.

Brian,
I went to a lab near Providence call Somnique, and they specialize in sleep disorders. Maybe I can get them to show me the graphs when I visit for a follow up in a few weeks. It would be interesting to see if the low number was some brief spike or what shape it really was over time.

My SpO2 was reported as a low of 52% during my sleep study.

My sleep doctor said ten days ago that he wondered why I had not been diagnosed earlier. My reply "my wife diagnosed this much earlier..." I was apathetic... Is it possible to actually have a blood oxygen concentration of 52% and still be alive? Realize the lab recorded this before Julie woke me up ...

Re: Will sleepyhead work on a small 11inch laptop?

I use Quicken. I use SleepyHead. All of the software installs over the network today. Even movies play over the network. My new work laptop has a nifty BluRay disk reader I probably will never use. The world has moved beyond the disc. 2 miles from me a video store is being demolished and replaced wi...

Jen, any PC or Mac you buy new today will be a delight to you. Don't fuss over the lack of DVD drive. I can't remember the last time I opened that drive on my PC.

Re: I am new this and have a bunch of questions

Jay, excellent. And now I know why a glossary definition is beyond a basic glossary sentence. It makes sense to me. Thanks.

Jenk, with a clear airway apnea of 55 you need to see your doctor again. Or best said this is beyond me - but others will chime in certainly.

I am new this and have a bunch of questions

Palerider, I do agree completely. But please read the thread from the beginning and think of my measure of good advice "will my 85-year-old mother in-law comprehend and follow the advice" Notice the original poster replied four minutes after my attempt to help today after waiting since two days ago ...
