Re: Fixed v variable pressure
Switched to fixed pressure on my own without telling my sleep doc. I had asked her if I could switch but she said no. Have tried FP with and without EPR (EPR = 3 is best for me). Overall getting better results than APAP mode. Sudden increase in pressure during APAP mode can cause arousals in some fo...

How do you get around this issue: " OSCAR cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified."

Re: Better to use Medicare for new apap, or buy used/new?
After his own research, he himself would like a nose-only mask, but NOT the type that goes into his nostrils. That's what he has during the study and he didn't like the feeling of the mask in his nose. Thoughts? The Philips Dreamwear Nasal Cushion is what my sleep doc had me start with and am happy...

Re: Why doesn't everyone use a cervical collar?
The professional sleep community is obssessed with chin straps. They should all have to wear one for several nights to experience what a patient has to deal with. I tried several and gave up on them pretty fast.

Re: Why doesn't everyone use a cervical collar?
Maybe the collar somehow stabilizes breathing. These collars hold the neck in an optimal position for airway patency. That is the stabilization factor you are wondering about. They also help prevent jaw-drop. 6B496908-D6A0-48F1-9B88-E343E941884D.jpeg The patients in this study wore a full face mask...

Re: Why doesn't everyone use a cervical collar?
GrumpyHere » Mon Aug 02, 2021 3:02 am This seems to be a classic thread and could help people who find it. Cervical collars rock! Even my sleep doctor admits this. Agree! Had really bad mouth leaks and the cervical collar was, all around, the best way to reduce them. However - the leaks started to ...

Re: i need a new mask, any sugestions
Nasal cushion is the type that Iies against the nose whereas pillows insert slightly inside the nasal openings. I tried the Brevida nasal pillow mask; it sealed well and had minimal leaks. However, I have thick nasal hairs so it tended to cause irritation and soreness. So am sticking with cushions. ...

Re: Opinions on mouth taping?
I tried mouth taping (Somnifix) but only with a backup battery in line with the machine. If power goes out, you could end up like the bad guy in the movie Thunderball where Bond severs the tube to the diving tank. Seriously, there my be an issue with not getting air supply; whether you would wake up...

Re: Advice please - mouth open
I have a Resmed chin strap but by itself, it has not fixed the problem. For the record, I do not breath through my mouth normally. Even at night. The issue is that with the CPAP set at twelve, during the night my mouth opens (due to the pressure?) and the air from the CPAP rushes out. Just to reite...

Re: New n30i cushion
This Resmed site has a list of online sellers: https://www.resmed.com/en-us/sleep-apne ... es-online/
I ordered the new version from a company that had it in stock. For any others, probably need to contact them by phone to ensure what version they will be sending.

I have a MW cushion (came as part of a complete mask set), and it is larger than both M size lots. So it does appear to be a manufacture inconsistency
