POLL: The Reasons I Keep On Coming Back To The Forum

Post by mars » Sun Oct 31, 2010 9:21 pm

Hi Everybody

********************************Please read before doing the poll***********************************

I do not think there has been a poll on why people keep on coming back, so having nothing better to do I thought I would set one up. As usual there will be errors and omissions in the poll, so please do comment as you see fit. ( as though anything is going to stop you ),

Tick as many options as you like, and as there is still no count on the number of poll participants please - everybody - - tick the first question, which will act as a counter of participants.

cheers

I think it's written with a bit of a lighthearted feel, which is fine, but I also think that for some people the forum may be quite a serious place, even lifesaving (or certainly feel that way) and I hope you didn't just mean it to be 'jokey' . It can feel like a family to people who are alone, whether just in OSA-ness or reality, and that's special!

Hi Julie

Lighthearted - yes

Jokey as in disparagement - no

And I am surprised you would think that.

cheers

Good Poll Mars, I think you hit all the points I would have thought of. This forum is very important in my life. I just want to know who the 3 are who voted on the troll question??

Cpaptalk helped me so much when I first started OSA therapy. I read every single word, including many discussions I did not understand right away. I continued reading to see what my new "friends" were doing and writing as well as to keep up with advances in treatment. Naturally I continue to learn. Sometimes I even post something, hoping it might be helpful.

I miss some previous members, and would love to know how they are doing. It is always nice to meet new members and to hear their success stories as they conquer the new way of sleeping.

The funny treads are big treats! Lots of good humor here.

I have been helped so much here. I don't think I would have made it without the help I got here. I have been helping 4 other people than won't get on the forum on their own too. I think a lot of people here have thought I was a troll. When you are new it is hard knowing what questions to ask and how to ask to get the answers you need. I must say though that I was persistent enough to get help with everything I needed. There are lots of kind knowledgeable people here.

Mars... I only speculated on 'jokey' (you did include the troll Q) so not to worry - it's a good poll!

Interesting poll. I have found some much needed help here - both off topic and on topic. Where I am able to, I try to help and of course, some light hearted entertainment and a chuckle is always most welcome as well.

I doubt that I would have been compliant without this forum - it helped educate me so that I fully understood the consequences of untreated sleep apnea. With all the support from this forum, I managed to keep trying different masks until I found a favorite.

And, It may have saved my husban'd life! He snored so loud, I was contemplating putting a pillow over his head! Instead, I convinced him to get a sleep study and the doctor to advocate for us with the insurance company.

Regards to all,

Jersey Girl

I think this a great poll Mars! I have learned so much from this forum not only about sleep apnea but how forums work ( and still learning about this!) It is very intertaining at times and I give advise when I can. Most of the people are great and it's what keeps me here.

I really don't think I would have stayed compliant without this forum either. It is soooo much more helpful than the little girl that works at the DME place.
