Moving to Denver

Post by OKCCowboy » Fri Sep 09, 2011 6:30 pm

Hello folks,

I am moving to Denver (Broomfield) on Tuesday. I have heard horror stories about Apria there and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a provider there.

Thanks
John

Hey there *waves*, welcome to Denver

After you're settled, be sure and visit the Farmer Mart up there, totally awesome!!!
And soon as you get your bearings, great dog park near 128th & Sheridan should you go west.

Broomfield....I'm in Westminster, just a couple of minutes from Broomfield. The VA uses Roth Medical up in Lafayette. I've had a few contacts with them, they've been nice and helpful and I haven't had any negative experience with them, perhaps worth a try.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

At Ameriken:

We might be neighbors then
Do you have to be military/vet to contact Roth Medical?

Welcome to Colorado - you are going to love it here. I live just north in Longmont. I fired the Apria in Louisville and went strictly with cpap.com, and I haven't had any problems since.

If we had enough people here we could probably set up our own support group and meet at a starbucks or something.

I don't think you need to be a vet, I think that just happens to be the DME (or one of them) that the VA is using.

I've never heard of Anthem.
I'm game for meeting at a Starbucks or somewhere

Y'all should pick a Saturday, say 10:30AM, a coffee shop/bagel place somewhat centrally located, post an OT notice here or PM each other, and get together. We formed our local support group in Atlanta Feb '10 and love it! We share suggestions, rants, have shared masks & xPAPs & recording oximeters -- all to improve our therapy. Best of all, our significant others don't have to listen to us talk about our therapy until their eyes glaze over

I also bid you a welcome to Colorado, I am in Englewood which is just on the southwest border of Denver. As for Apria, we go back to 2003 but I don't want to get started on that as space is limited here. The main thing to watch out for is their billing!!!! Most recently, I found that they had been billing me and my insurance company for my oxygen concentrator that caped out last November. As I am on a Medicare-Advantage plan, they can only bill for 3 years and have to service me for two years for a minimal fee. They did not stop billing me after last November and that was partly my fault for not noticing. I reminded Anthem Blue Cross and the stopped paying so I also stopped paying the copayment. They also recently billed Anthem Blue Cross twice for an overnight Oximiter study that they screwed up and they tried to bill the insurance $575 for each of the two times. I had already checked on the actual cost of their Resmed oximiter and the retail cost from Resmed was $642 but Amazon had the same unit for $524.00. I sent Anthem the advertisements and their URL and they in turn denied Apria the entire billed amount because of the discrepancy.

In any case, welcome to Colorado and watch every billing you get from Apria and also check with your insurance carrier as to correctness of the billing and your copay if any. Let me know if I can be of any assistance to you.

Roger
