Re: Felt great at first, now not so much
It can be normal, doesn't mean it's right. It may mean your treatment needs refined, it may mean you have another new issue. However if you have a nasal mask and breath through your mouth... well there's your starting point. Change masks or start using a chin strap etc. It is a good idea to download...

Re: Why would dieting make my AHI increase?
I suspect it's not a straightforward relationship. Ie alcohol make act to increase your ahi,but if you are soundly asleep maybe moving less ie not rolling on to your back.
At any rate, ahi under 5 is a success, excessive drinking is not healthy even if it does seem to give you ahi under 1.

Re: Why would dieting make my AHI increase?
If the graphs are representative of the two time frames - the first your pressures are going much higher - to 17/18. The second with your better lifestyle, it's only going as high as 14. So to me that just looks like generaly you need less pressure, but that's letting a few more episodes sneak throug...

Re: Aid to fall asleep?
My partner uses asmr videos on youtube to get to sleep, and he has insomnia - I don't, but find relaxation exercises helpful. It might be worth looking at your sleep hygiene? Did getting to sleep only become a problem with the cpap? What are all your settings? Machine and mask? Any medication or oth...

Re: Preparing for my first night on CPAP
Wearing it while awake will help you hit compliance numbers though. If you use sleepyhead to check the data, you can see what's happening with your ahi when you know you are asleep,so the machine number won't matter so much.

Re: 100% compliant to CPAP, still tired, can I do something ?
You are doing well to have such good compliance and low ahi. You might want to use sleepyhead to check your data, but I'm not sure youd find anything helpful to explain the tiredness. Of course, 2 months isn't that long, so it might simply be that with more time, you find you improve a bit more - or...

Re: Dry Mouth and Mask Moving
Three hours is not bad for a first night, well done you will get used to it, and how the mask moves too. What mask do you have? I'd maybe give it a bit of time to get used to the machine before fiddling too much. Some people find a higher or lower humidity helps, and some like a heated hose too. Othe...

Re: Thinking stupid while depressed
Perfectly normal symptoms of depression. And depression and altered thinking can by symptoms of apnoea as well. (If you are tired all day, and possibly have sleep apnoea, you are also not physically fine, so don't be too hard on your self in terms of your physical or mental health) When do u get ur ...

Re: waking up and cant get back to work
Amy idea why you are waking up? Leak? Noise? Bathroom? Could just be changing sleep stages.
I'm a fan of some relaxation exercises if getting to sleep is a struggle (what's happening when u struggle or is it just you don't feel sleepy?), there's plenty on youtube to choose from.

Re: Newby - help please
the machine is quite often at higher pressures (like 14ish) when you dont wake up as well. so it might be more of a coincidence than the high pressure its self waking you up - whether it is that, or a leak, or the end of a sleep stage or some thing else altogether, but it feels like its the pressure...

A lot of drs still think there is a typical apnoea patient - but actually, there's a lot of us that are not obese middle aged men falling asleep in to their beer.

Re: Newby - help please
other people better than me will help with your graphs... one thing though - sleep without your machine is not 'uninterupted' - you are waking up several times an hour because you are not breathing - do you know your ahi from your sleep study? so you are much better to wake up every few hours, reset...

Unless he was meaning a hose lifter? If the hose isn't moving as much, it won't pull the mask,so you can get fewer leaks.

What exactly is the noise like? You mention a whistle - ehich is kind of how I would have described rain out, water in the hose.

It will get better people who know me than me will come along with better advice - I'm not up on all the masks, but manage to be a stomach sleeper with my full face one - have a search for the sleeping position the falcon. Even so, it does just take getting used to,2 weeks isn't that long. Possibly ...
