Re: Anyone travel with their daily machine?
I currently use my old Remstar Pro2 as my travel machine. I used to use a remstar brick as a travel machine but the constant abuse killed it after 3000hrs. I always take along the humidifier, however when I'm using DC power I just fill the tank but don't plug it in and the passover humidity is gener...

Re: Insurance won't cover Cpap
Have you checked the online retailers? Our host CPAP.COM sells machines for less than my copay as my insurance only covers 80% of the cost of the machine.

Re: Insurance
I have bought supplies from our host (cpap.com) and numerous times over the last 6 years and I was very happy with them. My insurance covers a new machine every 5 years but does not cover any supplies so the cheaper prices were appreciated. The masks and hoses that I bought were the same as I would ...

Re: FOR SALE- CPAP - REMstar Auto A-Flex w/ht Humid System one
I'm also in Calgary and feel your pain. I was just quoted $2400 for the same machine with a Quattro mask from a local DME. I have purchased machines from CPAP.com with no problems and would do so again. However with my current private insurance, the Canadian machine will be not cost me anything and ...

F&P Icon vs. PR System 1
I'm in the market for a new auto machine. I'm going to purchase it from our host, however I'm in Canada so Resmed equipment is not an option as they are prohibited from shipping Resmed equipment to Canada. I was planning on picking up the PR 1 Auto as I have have a few Remstars and an M Series. I ju...

Re: Is it really necessary to clean your mask & tubing ?
I don't clean the equipment as often as some of the others on the board. The mask will get oil and dead skin on it that requires cleaning, and the filters need to be rinsed periodically but I rarely clean the hose. The water chamber gets cleaned if I have had to use tap water and I start to get a ca...

Re: Humidifier Water
I've used RO water for quite some time as I have a Kinetico system in the house. When I last checked I have about 10,000 hours on my home machine and I clean the reservoir rarely. My travel machine has about 3000 hr and I end up using bottled water (demineralized preferred) in it most of the time. I...

Re: Using Cpap on DC for travel
The heated humidifier works in passover (non-heated) mode, there is not as much water vapor in the air. A couple of thing to think about for the dc power: 1- How many volts did you have at the source? 2- If it was over the power rating of the adapter, the fuse in the adapter should have blown 3- Som...

Re: Are you touchy about who touches your machine?
I found myself getting irritated when people were touching / moving my machine due to the timeframe involved replacing it , so I bought a backup machine. It was $70 used, but now everyone doesn't think I'm a nutcase (DW's words) for panicking whenever someone is near my CPAP.

Re: CPAP SET TOO HIGH?
I think you have a couple of choices: 1) Get a new sleep study 2) Ask your DME & Doctor to be retitrated using an Auto machine such as the M series Auto. Your DME would set the pressure from 8 to 18 or so and could read the data after a week determine the what the pressure should be. 3) Purchase a n...

Before ditching the mask, try loosing it off even more. I use a 431 (same mask without the grey insert) and it is so loose, when then CPAP is not turned on I can breath around it and it almost falls off. When you turn the machine on, pull the mask away from your face and let the seal fill with air. ...

I don't use them. The Respiratory Technician that I dealt with when I bought my machine told me the Respironics rep. reported a higher incidence of premature machine failure when using both the foam and the white filters. He left it up to me, but I figured that I don't use filters for the air that I...

It sounds to me like you all are tightening the head gear to tight. I keep it quite loose, when the machine is not on there is no seal to my face. When I turn the machine on and it pressures up, I pull the mask away from my face and the seal fills with air pushing it against my face to create the se...
