Resmed Airfit F20 elbow code 63476

Post by Oltremare » Mon Feb 26, 2018 10:46 pm

Looking for accessories on the internet,
I discovered that the "Resmed Airfit F20 elbow code 63476" exists in two different types, as you can see from the attached pictures.
Does anyone know why they are 2 different types?
Maybe these are updates on materials?
What is the latest and best version?

Thank you,
Oltremare

My mask is about a year old, and looks like the bottom picture. My wife got her mask in September, and it looks the upper picture. Evidently, it is a minor design change that has no impact on how the mask works.

January purchase and it is the top one, the exhaust is diffused through a lot of holes. Hardly bothers my bed partner.
Anyone with two to compare, are the exhaust hole sizes bigger on the newer one?

I think the newer one reflects the change to the "Quiet" thing that ResMed added to the promo of this mask.
More diffusing of the vented air...quieter and less annoying.

I'm not sure how the newer elbow could be quieter. The flaps cover those holes once the machine starts blowing air. One could possibly be a little quieter when the machine first starts to blow air, but only for a few seconds. I can't hear any differences in the two masks. The only problem is, I don't hear much of anything without my hearing aids.

Thanks for your answers.
For Pugsy:
the best piece is that of photo F20 2 or F20 1?
Do you have the Resmed promo link for this form?

Thanks so much

I just remembered it from a discussion a couple of weeks ago on another forum.
They (ResMed) just mentioned the new design and added the term Quiet Air to their product promo stuff that retailers use in product description.

Maybe this will help

I've been using CPAP masks 13 years, I never have had a elbow wear out! What am I doing wrong? Maybe if I washed my mask all the time I could increase wear to conform. I have broken off many clip ears because Respironics found out they could sell more masks if they didn't make them correctly. I hope that 1 cent worth of plastic helped their bottom line. Jim

Any hats off to them after three years of complaining from users, they got it repaired. They took some plastic from the "T" Bar on the fore head, so now they break instead.

Hi Goof, very nice :) .
A small accident damaged a clip of my elbow and I looked for an accessory on the internet and tried to understand differences for the 2 types of elbow cod. 63476.
Pugsy introduced me to the new elbow cod. 63494 It is very interesting!
The old vent system blows air towards my shoulders and throat, it's quite annoying.
The new elbow looks like it doesn't do that anymore and maybe it's even quieter.

Thank you all.

Don't see it in USA yet. In other countries it is priced at 40-50 US dollars for the elbow. Worth it to me, if it lets me bury my head further into my pillow and not hear exhaust blow back.

Even with the conversion rate...shipping from Australia...might as well just buy the whole frame.

This one is the "QuietAir" elbow model #63494

https://mysleep.resmed.com/GB/en/Sleep- ... 20/p/63494

Not available in USA, so I could not buy a frame. For me because I sleep with my face buried in my pillow it might be worth the money.

I have a new only used once, in the box , AirFit F20 for sale at $80 dollars..... it has the new elbow shown in the first picture.....

Since you would be only buying it for the elbow, make it $75.00 if you are interested.......

When I went from the airfit 10 to the 20. I noticed a increase in the noise level from the exhaust vents. Compared to the vents that were incorporated into the cushion of the 10 that is in the elbow of the 20...

I can only describe it as a louder hissing sound in comparison to the 10 vs. The 20. It was anoying enough for me that I sent the 20 back and continued using the 10. Maybe they got a lot of complaints from 10 users who switched to the 20 because it was new and cool with its magnet head gear. I could tell right away that the elbow diffuser was louder then the 10.

For what it's worth. If you thought the 20 was a bit noisier it probably was...
