Thanks heaps Pugsy for your thoughtful review. Quick question. I tried the medium Amara view and it was a little narrow across the mouth with leaks. Any chance you could chevk if it wider across the mouth. Barry Australia.

I can't right now but it's not going to be an easy or accurate measurement to make. The silicone soft cushiony part of the mouth piece is a bit different. The opening is different.
It's out on loan right now so I can't measure anything until it comes back to me next week.
Remind me then...I know I will have forgotten.

I just got this mask yesterday, from Secondwind Cpap, Got home late from work, and set it up. It has very loud Darth Vader breathing, much louder than my Amara View. I decided to use the old and mess with the new today. Any suggestions on the loud breathing noise?

I totally agree.... that is my major dealbreaking problem. Inhalation noise is really bad no matter what I do. I like the way it fits, although when I move sometimes my nostrils are longer aligned with the holes which is bad, but I cannot get used to the noise. It's not comparable to my Simplus so I guess I have to stick with that.

Don't know what to tell you because I didn't experience any more noise with it than with the Amara View or any other masks for that matter.

If you didn't use the fleece wraps...try using them to see if it helps. The Darth Vadar sounds are conducted noise from our own breathing that gets amplified by the headgear/frame and the hose. It's going to bug some people more than others.
To reduce conducted noise about all we can do is try to put buffers on whatever is conducting the sounds to our head....like wrap the hose or headgear/frame.

I like the fleece wraps and have left them, plus the extra ones, on. I think it's some kind of valve related thing for me. Maybe I breathe more harshly than others, but my Simplus sounds pretty consistent throughout the cycle which is nice. Too bad.

Some cons...

Venting is more like with any other regular mask. Not diffused like the P10 or other masks that have diffused venting.
Potentially annoying if it hits bed partner or the bed covers or your arm and bounces back on you.
Ok, i'm still learning here, but what is the difference in regular venting and diffused venting on these masks?

Diffused is much softer and less noisy...can't be felt unless you put your hand about an inch or so away from the vent holes.

Regular....steady rather pointed stream of air that can go so far as to annoy bed partner.

Is there a way to tell visually if a mask is diffused or not?

Not unless it's about a foot in front of your face and you know what to look for.

If you are trying to decide on a mask to try that might have the diffused venting system of some sort...it's usually mentioned in the product description. No mention means no diffusion.

I find that regular not only annoys bed partner, it annoys me as well! It can feel as strong as a wide open tap spilling water on my arm/hand!

Pugsy,

Can you tell if the DreamWear full face mask headgear is interchangeable with the nasal pillow version? ie. does the new full face part snap in to the old headgear like the nasal pieces snap in? Or is the headgear different?

Thanks!

Not interchangeable at all.
The 2 head gears as totally separate and different.
Did you see the pictures of the headgear I posted? First page of this thread maybe.

Thanks! I did see the pics... but was hard to tell. The piece that plus into the nasal pillow looks similar to the picture. And I saw another review that said it appeared to use the same frame... but may be it was wrong.

Frame is the same headgear is different. So yes the mask part plugs into same frame but you need different headgear strap.
