Your pressure requirements are relatively high. Mine were even higher. I was able to achieve a big reduction in pressure requirements by wearing a foam cervical collar. Quite a few members wear them. I use the 4-inch firm foam - https://www.walmart.com/ip/DMI-Universa ... e/23057188

The collar holds your neck in the best position for airway patency.

See those few little 'shark fins'? those are the times the machine thinks you're sleeping well.

A full night of them would be wonderful, but that's unrealistic to hope for... but longer stretches of them would be great.

Go ahead and try another CM of pressure.

why are those little jumps in pressure - which i think you mean by "shark fins' means I'm sleeping well? Is that the machine adjusting? testing? just trying to understand what it means

WHY? that's a really good question.... the only answer I have is "because respironics is weird".

I mean those little ^ shaped spikes in the pressure line, where it jumps up and a few minutes later drops back down.

Respironics, perversely, whenever your breathing is nice, smooth and regular, wakes up and decides to raise pressure to "see if it makes things better", and if not, it drops the pressure back down....

However, if you're having *irregular*, somewhat disturbed sleep... IT DOES NOTHING AT ALL. Someone once said it was 'to avoid disturbing you'... which, to me, is stupid, you're *already disturbed*... that seems like the exact time the machine SHOULD see if it can make things better... but... noooo.

so went up .5 cm and tried Dr Dakota neck torture device....woke up at 5am with sever aerophagia - felt like there was a large boulder in my gut trying to get out.

interestingly my sleep after taking off neck brace was much better. but still not great.

anything to interpret in the data around 4:20 am where my flow rate becomes really shallow? is that aerophagia related?

You can't evaluate flow rate at this scale. Everything is too squished.
You have to zoom in so you can see breath by breath at the time in question.
So that you see it like this.

or maybe this

I have a theory about the aerophagia.....did you wake often before you took off the torture device?

thanks. No I do not wake often before (that I know of) before feeling the aerophagia - its so uncomfrotbale it wakes me out of sleep.

here is the expanded view - looks like a very shallow flow rate and not sure why

"Shallow" and "rate" don't go together.

"Rate" refers to the number of breaths per minute. You can see this in the "Resp Rate" graph of Sleepyhead.

"Shallow" refers to the volume of air displaced per breath. You can see this in the "Tidal Volume" graph of SH.

The Tidal Volume graph will give you a good idea of whether and how the shallowness of your breathing varies.

Here is a little Sleepyhead tip for to achieve a proper size for zoomed-in screenshots. Open up the Events tab on the left side of the display. If you can find any event in the area of interest, click on it. The line graphs will do a proper zoom of that area of the graph. (It's roughly 4.5 minutes. You can zoom in to 2.0 minutes to look more closely at events of interest.)

"flow rate" is the name of the graph.

Thanks - just getting used to the lingo. The hard part is decoding all this data and how different pieces are related to each other and ultimately and event......all i see here is that flow rate dropped unusually but i had less events and pressure seemed constant. tidal volume also looked flat.........
