Help with DreamSeal mask

Post by Guest » Fri Oct 22, 2004 9:22 am

I have been on CPAP for about 1 1/2 months. I have a sore between my upper lip and my nose. I'm using a Breeze DreamSeal mask.
Any Ideas?

nasal pillows instead of dreamseal

Post by rested gal » Fri Oct 22, 2004 1:21 pm

Have you thought about trying a Breeze with nasal pillows instead of Breeze with dreamseal nasal mask? Might not make any difference, as the shell or plenum that holds the nasal pillows might bear on that area for you (doesn't on me.) I love the Breeze/nasal pillows, but the Breeze "dreamseal" nasal mask was too leaky for me. I never tried the dreamseal version long enough to know if it would have bothered me with a sore the way it does you.

I did try the nasal pillows. It made the inside of my nose hurt really bad. I just wonder if there is a better mask to try.

Thank You

Masks

I have had a Resironics Simplicity mask that I have used since I was diagnosed 2 years ago. In fact, it was the one I used for my sleep test. I was able to use it all night from the first. I really like it and still use it when I feel congested for any reason.
I just recently got a Respironics Comfort Lite and like it very much too. It has a mask and nasal pillows but they are very different than the Breeze nasal pillows and you may be able to tolerate it better. The mask is much like the Simplicity mask. One thing I like is that you get 2 sizes of the mask and 2 sizes of the pillows, with headgear (slips on and off like a baseball cap) in each set.
Maybe you can rent a Comfort Lite set and try it for awhile to see how it goes. My supplier will let me use a mask and/or pillows for a week and, if I like it I can buy it. They keep a number of loaners in all sizes. They will fit me with a loaner and I try it for the week and then can buy it if I like it.

Thanks for the info Hawthorne. I have an appointment with my provider tomorrow and will see if they have one of those.
