Re: Back up battery for CPAP
Yes. I live in an apartment building and use battery backup when hurricanes knock out the power. We do have a building generator but it doesn't run any electricity in our apartments. I recharge my backup during the day from the generator outlet

Re: Phillips deficient in sizing of Dreamwear cushions
I use the Wisp and the XL cushion. My sizing chart lists P, S/M, L and XL. I get 3 cushions in my package, it does not include the P.

Re: Is BiPAP considered life support?
Respiratory failure in my case meant that I was completely unable to breathe on my own. It could not be treated with bipap. Had to be done with life support on a ventilator. A bipap cannot treat a person who is unable to breathe at all on their own. So NO it is not life support. I was in a very bad ...

Re: Is BiPAP considered life support?
I have been on xpap therapy since the 1990s. I am on IVAPS now and sleep with oxygen added and have been on oxygen for over 15 years also. But no, it's not life support. I was on bilevel before my IVAPS machine. Also over 10 years ago I was in the ICU, in a medical coma, and on a ventilator. That WA...

Re: CPAP while in hospital for unrelated illness
I have been hospitalized quite a few times and brought my own xpap machine. However last July the RT asked me did I bring my own oxygen tubing!! I said no. But I was thing I use the 25' tubing. Why would I bring something so long and also why would they ask for that. They do have their own tubing. O...

Re: Oxygen concentrator bubble humidifier - can you use with bi-level as well?
What is a bubble humidifier?
I use an oxygen concentrator 3L only when sleeping. I just use my climate line heated hose and aircurve 10 st-a humidifier.

Re: Low Hour AirCurve 10 VAUTO....FOR SALE
Pugsy, yes I have felt the back up rate kick in from time to time. I assume there could be times when it kicks in and I don't realize it either. Thank you for your reply. I don't have the money to buy my particular machine again for a back up machine. Will see if I need a replacement machine free fr...

Re: Low Hour AirCurve 10 VAUTO....FOR SALE
I use an aircurve 10 ST-A. Would the Vauto be any good as a backup machine for me? My dr has me on the ivaps but I just have an old regular cpap machine for backup. I may be getting a new machine from the VA but I think I still need a better machine for backup. Are the hoses, humidifier etc the same...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
JLROhio, I just talked to the VA cpap clinic and made an appt to bring my machine in to be checked. That's what I had forgotten before. They check the machine for the problem and then if it needs to be replaced they replace it. So I don't know if your plan of reporting noises that aren't happening w...

Dog Slobber, I was talking about the VA in general. As I posted earlier with this Phillips mess I dont know how long anything will take. But also I am on an ivaps machine which less people are on. Will see.

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
JRLOhio. Actually I have been on Cpap, Bilevel, ivaps with the VA for over 20 years. So far I have never had a problem immediately replacing a broken machine. But I keep forgetting the process! My machine now is 4 1/2 years old and I have an old regular cpap for backup if I have to use it. I called ...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
To chunky frog, actually the town is called Murrysville, not Murryville. It is a small town outside of Pittsburgh, between Monroeville and Greensburg PA. A long time ago I was actually inside the building as I used to live there and was visiting family there. Don't know if they have moved buildings ...

Re: Testing the possible presence of apnea in a cheap and very safe way
I have been on both xpap therapy and oxygen when I sleep for at least 15 years.
I am on ivaps now but even then I still need the supplimental oxygen. So a pulse oximeter doesn't tell me I have sleep apnea.
I don't need any supplimental oxygen when I am awake.
