In need of a New Nasal Mask, need Suggestions

Post by 2Tim215 » Wed Mar 14, 2018 9:10 am

I need a new mask and I would like some input on the best choice for a male mask that will replace my old Airfit N10 Wide. Preferably a mask with a removable short hose. Maybe a swivel type. What would be a good choice that is as quiet as possible?
Thank you for all and any help. Desperate in NY...

If you want something similar to the N10....no headgear above the nose and forehead, I think that you will be limited to a few only...maybe the N20 or Wisp. I tried the DreamWear with cushion last night for the first time and it can be noisy...among the noisiest nasal mask..comparable to the Wisp that was oversized (XL)....L was okay, but can be leaky when tossing and turning for me. See my post in the DreamWear thread.

Have you looked at or tried the ResMed Swift FX Nano?
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... dgear.html

If you haven't ever tried it and want to...don't buy it just yet. I might have one in the donations box.
I would need to check to see and I don't have time right at the moment. The horse shoer guy is coming in just a few minutes.
Check with me a bit later if it looks like something you want to try.
It's free.

I second the suggestion for a Wisp, but I'm biased. It's the one mask I've used and it works for me--very quietly, after I really fine-tuned the fit.
And have you looked on cpap.com (our hosts) at masks--a particularly good feature of their listings are the many reviews from people who have used any mask in question.

My husband LOVES the ResMed P10. Swears it's the best mask EVER!! I've tried it (didn't work for me  ) and I will say, it is one of the quietest masks I've tried. And I tried out about a dozen or so the first 4 weeks, mid-Jan to mid-Feb. I kept checking to see if it was actually blowing through the exhaust vent, it's so quiet. You may want to check it out, if you haven't already. But it is a nasal pillow, not a nasal.

Wonder how you would do with the F & P Brevida? I just thought about that one...pretty much silent.

You really have to try them to see how you would do.
Those people who love their Wisp....I managed 90 minutes with it and it was the longest 90 minutes of my life.
Never to darken my door step again.  The only mask I have ever actually returned to my DME because I hated it so bad.

I have 2 go to nasal masks.
Current favorite is the Circadiance Sleepweaver 3D.
I have been using the Sleepweaver line for years, and have used them all. The 3D is their best.

My second choice is the Wisp.

I have more than a dozen different masks and these are my favorites. I can't really tell you how quiet they are because I am too busy sleeping when I have them on.

I am with Pugsy, as far as the Wisp. I tried it and could not use it. I found it extremely uncomfortable, the edges of the mask almost painful. Also, I seem to fall between sizes. The small/med was just a bit too small but the large was much too big. I tried it again with a homemade liner. That helped with the discomfort/pain, but the mask still didn't fit right and leaked like crazy. No Wisp for me!

I did try one Sleepweaver mask (not the 3D, my DME did not have that one)--so comfortable! But could not control the leaks.

Thank You everyone for your help. My best fit was the N20. It was quiet with a good seal. Pugsy I'll pm you when I get home.

Thank you for all suggestions. What a about the So Clean machine. Is it okay?
at the top of the forum, type So Clean in the search box.

be prepared to read one of the longest and most heated discussions on this forum!

tl;dr- most here do NOT like it.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Thank you! I'll go with the majority along with your help. I appreciate you taking the time to share this. It works out for the good also, my insurance won't cover it and I can't afford to buy it now out of pocket. Thank you again, Tim
