Re: Machine makes me unable to inhale... Does this happen to anyone?

Maybe I'm missing something, but the ASV seems more appropriate here.

Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

I got the same useless generic copy paste message in my e-mail today from Philips, entirely worthless. I have my PR machines just collecting dust as I wait, but I doubt I'll keep them as more than backups even when "fixed."

Airflow feels dry even with heated hose and mouth closed

While awake using a ResMed AirCurve 10 ST with the heated hose, both hose temp and climate control set to auto, even with my mouth purposely closed the air feels so dry and kind of warm. This is with a room temp somewhere around 68 - 72*F depending on what time of year it is. Is there an easy fix fo...

Re: Climateline tubing - dry mouth

hose air temp is just for comfort and/or control of rain out issues. Moisture content of the air itself is for "dry". That's the humidity setting. Thx, I started at setting 4 last night. Used the machine for 8.5 hours, had maybe 20-25% water left in the tank. Wish they made these things with bigger...

Auto humidity setting is 4 maybe 5 when compared to a manual setting.
Try taking it off auto for humidity and trying a higher humidity setting.
Thanks - does tube temp matter for comfort/dry, or more just rainout?

Climateline tubing - dry mouth

I am using a full face mask, and even with my mouth shut while awake, the air feels very dry. Settings on Auto climate control, tube temp is default I think 80 or 81. Very uncomfortable. Room temp is like 72 or so. How do I fix this?

Re: Resmed AirFit F30

F&P Simplus is the only mask that doesn't attack some part of my nose, and still manages to not leak. The only annoying thing is sometimes it leaves a red mark on my cheek. I have to tighten it a bit though because of my pressures.

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

My other username is RaisedFist...sometimes I just forget to switch because I have a few different computers. How you get more tidal volume is by raising PS...but if you do that, most likely you'll just get more centrals...until you can get a machine with a backup rate. You definitely don't want a B...

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

Raisedfist, I noticed that you posted this on another thread: "PR BiPAP AVAPS is a non-invasive ventilator...the machine auto-adjusts when AVAPS is enabled but to target an average tidal volume. Treating OSA is not the primary intention and the machine will not respond to OSA events." I guess I'm c...

Re: Over a month on CPAP, AHI 20.53

When you lay down while awake, does the machine report any leak, or do you feel air coming out near your cheeks or eyes?

There is a full face mask (flexi-fit 431 or 432) by Fisher & Paykel where the cushion rests under the chin.

Re: Full Face mask for high pressure and bearded man

The F&P Simplus FFM comes highly recommended from me but you're still going to struggle with a full on goatee...I think that's pretty much incompatible with a good seal.

Re: Are these oxygen concentrator generators any good?

So, the 90% oxygen appears when the flow rate is at the minimum, increasing the flow rate dilutes the oxygen concentration. Not unless it's broken. Oddly, looking at the photos of the unit - for some reason the percentage does seem to actually change when you adjust the l/m flow. I've never heard o...

Re: How to get prescribed Bipap?

The Ti setting (according to the manual I've got) ranges from 0.5 to 3.0, so, is that meaning how long it'll stay at IPAP? That's much less flexible than the way Resmed does it. Let's say you're in spontaneous/timed mode, and you have a central apnea or for whatever reason don't trigger an inhalati...

Re: How to get prescribed Bipap?

As far as I know, Resmed is the only bilevel that offers that level of customization. That is correct - you need the way more expensive Respironics like the dreamstation avaps, or the trilogy ventilator, to do the stuff that a basic ResMed can do. And then you have the issue of whether or not the m...

Re: How to get prescribed Bipap?

Hopefully you get some more definitive answers soon. If you have a restrictive airway defect, I don't think symbicort will help at all since that is a bronchodilator used for asthma/copd - obstructive airway diseases. I would write down a list of your symptoms, especially how you feel when you wake ...
