Oscar's 'Best Device Setting'

Post by CPAPExplorer » Wed Nov 08, 2023 1:29 pm

Oscar's 'Best Device Setting' doesn't match my experience. What criteria do they use? One of my worst night was labeled 'best.' πŸ€”

I think this is only available on the updated version from September 2023 ? When you open Oscar on the right side under 'Records' tab it marks your 'best device settings' from all the data imported from your SD card. My 'best device setting' is not one of my best nights.

But it's the lowest AHI.

When you open Oscar on the right side under 'Records' tab .....
Can you be more specific about the navigation to this "records" tab.
Using Oscar 1.5.1 I don't seem to find any "records" tab.

Same here, on Windows 11: no "Records" tab.

It's basically a waste of screen space :)

My thoughts exactly. Probably why I couldn't see it at first since a long time ago I turned off that right side panel viewing.
Worthless.

Not sure just how much of an impact the AHI alone has in the determination of "best" vs "worst" settings since it says my best settings gave me an AHI of 1.2 and the worst was 1.6 AHI....huh? I have had much better (lower) AHI numbers and I have had much worse (higher) AHI numbers than either of those.

Scratching my head and shrugging and moving on. And first thing is to again turn off that right side panel.

For anyone interested in what this looks like:
Image

without any further explanation, it raises more questions than it answers.
For example: Is the AHI of 2.50 the best single night with 4/15 settings, or is the 2.50 an average of all the 1589 hours at 4/15.

Best device settings is based on what the device knows, and only that.
Also important is how YOU feel.

Quite true, however the machine data is completely objective, while how you feel is completely subjective. Both have value but the objective assessment ought to be more reliable.

The usefulness of this reliable data depends on understanding how the data was acquired and computed so that the data is put in proper context.
