Adjusting to new pressures...

Post by joeljjk11 » Wed Apr 11, 2018 1:11 pm

In general, how long does it take for our bodies to adjust to new pressures on our machines? I have been experimenting with my pressure settings in order to sleep better and have lower AHI and was just wondering. Any feedback on what people have experienced would be helpful.

Thanks,
Joel

Everyone's different, but a substantial change will probably be felt within a few days at least to some extent.

When my wife first started treatment, they were changing her pressure every four weeks. When they first tested her, she had a very large number of centrals once they had her pressure at the required level. They started her at a relatively low pressure, and brought it up slowly over about 4 months. It would take her about a week to get used to each change. If you are trying to maximize your treatment, try making small adjustments and waiting four or five days between adjustments. Don't make changes based on one night results or you will be making adjustments for ever.

Waiting 5-7 days between .5 pressure changes works well for me.

I'd have a sore throat and lungs/chest for about a week after an increase in pressure.
