Just a Bit of ER Humor

Post by kteague » Thu Mar 29, 2018 3:01 pm

Some of you are aware I ended up in the ER a few nights ago with my blood pressure running 211/100. Not gonna lie, I was a little scared. Even so, it was a fun night in the ER. A couple nurses thanked me for making their night. Was laying on the bed surrounded by personnel as they were ready in case my arrythmia turned out to be more than PAC's. This nice looking young man was sitting alongside me preparing to start an IV in my arm. Just before he was ready to stick me, I asked him if I should make a fist. He replied something like, "You just lay back and let me do it all." Before I knew it I had muttered a little too loudly, "Been a long time since I had a man tell me that." Wish I could have had video of this room full of professionals trying to maintain their composure and one by one failing miserably yet trying to not let me see. Poor guy was beet red and tried to hide his face leaning over and looking away, but his shoulders were heaving. Eventually he regrouped and took my arm again and before I even knew it he said "There you go." I swear it was in innocence when I said, "You're already done? I didn't even feel you put it in?" Took me a few seconds to realize why they all lost it again. I think I was their favorite patient that night. Well, by then I was having fun and decided to top off the visit with some intentional entertainment. I gave the nurse a note to give to the young man. It was the link to my sleep video of my limb movements (in my signature line). Told her to tell him to check it out because I'm a wild woman in bed. Wish I coulda stayed to see his face.

ER personnel are exposed to some very grim stuff.
So happy you were able to lighten their day.

Too funny! I admire you. I can't imagine having a sense of humor while in the ER. I was there last August - turned out to be nothing - but I didn't have no sense of humor, I can tell ya that. Well done!

Hi kteague, love your post... I had to look up ER. For me it is the Endoplasmic Reticulum. A membrane system in a cell that allows the traffic of proteins within and out of the cell. I just thought that maybe it could have another meaning and looked it up...

ER is an American medical drama television series created....

Wauuu so you did get accepted in the TV serie ? for how long ? Is there any way we can see it ?

I knew you are a gime AND now with the ER soon will be a star ! :)

Thank you and keep us up having great fun. Take care

ER is the hospital emergency room where ambulances take people for urgent medical care.

Loved this.

Had my second baby (34 years ago) by natural childbirth. Doc gave me novocain for the episiotomy but it started to wear off while he was stitching it up. I said "Wait, stop!" He looked up for an explanation and I said "I feel a little prick down there." Everyone in the delivery room, including my husband, lost it, and I didn't know why until someone said it back to me.
