Re: Just woke up from first night of use

In your case, I would not turn off the ramp completely, at least not at this time. You report the full pressure to high to fall asleep, but the initial pressure inadequate. The solution is for you to set a higher starting pressure, but lower than the full pressure (you'll need to see what's comfort...

Re: Do any sleep doctors review the detailed machine charts?

In most Dr opinion, the long-term average is a more important thing to look at because any given day AHI can vary greatly and chasing daily results ends up like a dog chasing its tail; lots of action but no results. This is true particularly because SA is not an acute or emergency situation, but mor...

Re: Difference between Resmed App and Sleepyhead?

The US press has become as nearly as large a source of national embarrassment as our president. And thanks to CPAP therapy I am awake enough to see it all in its dubious splendor.

Re: History of Repiriatory Equipment (including CPAP)

I certainly have no negative view of PAP equipment, as far as other respiratory assistance devices, I see them as serious medical equipment, but not negatively at all. As far as I can tell, people with dire and negative views of PAP equipment have not lived 40 years sleep deprived with all that enta...

Re: Idiopathic Hypersomnia

Wellbutrin is often used to help people stop smoking. It can break a habit, so to speak. So maybe, it will break your habit of still feeling sleepy. ???? After about 4 months on my own machine, I started exercising. Having spent the previous two years (at least) on the couch, my body was out of tun...

Re: Still kind of tired after two years of CPAP

I see that you're getting good advice. If you can lower your AHI more that's even better. Chasing "0" is Quixotic for most of us, but it's best to keep as law as possible. Remember that 5 means an incident every twelve minutes and 4 means an incident every fifteen minutes. Of course, this does not ...

Re: Idiopathic Hypersomnia

I took Welbutrin for several years. It did nothing to treat sleepiness, getting solid treatment with a CPAP solved the sleepiness. After a couple of years. Welbutrin started making me very short tempered and crabby. It did help me get over smoking though. LOL...I'm short tempered and crabby now!! S...

You also might want to try manually turning it on, if you are relying on the autostart feature.

Re: Centrals and obstructive apneas in the same night — how to adjust pressure?

Another thought - there is quite a range of needed sleep amounts. Numbers I recall seeing is from 6-9 hours as generally the range, but there are also outliers. I seem o need 6 1/2 to 7, and if I sleep more than 7 I see a lot of transitional crap, as I am drifting in and out of sleep. What happens i...

Re: Chin strap for person with receding chin

I have a neural chin and have tried a couple different chinstraps, neither work because the chinstrap exerts a back and up the pressure, so as I relax it pulls my mouth open due to the pulling back. C-Collar has been far better for me. Even with an FFM, the pressure below my mouth tends to pull my m...

Re: Effective O2 percentage with added O2??

The math is way way more complicated than you think. First, are you using an oxygen concentrator, which has an output way lower than 100% O2, or a pure O2 tank? The net flow into a room is the flow in less the flow out, and you have no way to estimate the flow out, through registers doorway, leaks, ...

Re: Sleep apnea... without being tired (and questions)

If your Dr distrusts the lab, why are you asking the lab? At home tests are at least reasonably reliable, and relatively inexpensive. Or, if your Dr decides to trust the lab, he can write a medical need letter to get an xPAP for you, the lab saying you have to consult with any particular Dr is BS. L...

Re: Centrals and obstructive apneas in the same night — how to adjust pressure?

The night data you posted does not support you saying you had a "bunch" of obstructives. If you have some data showing that post it. here may be other issues besides sleep apnea also. so that would be a much more difficult problem. Are you on meds? Other Health conditions? have you consulted with yo...
