I recommended the collar because re-breathing CO2 makes you feel sick.
The vents on each mask are different, bu† basically consist of a small patch (or ring) of tiny holes that allow CO2 to vent/leave after being exhaled by you.

ResMed equipment is indeed an option in the equipment drop down menu but it just doesn't mention "ResMed"...instead it goes by the model name.

If you are unsure....look on the blower for the model number and post it here and then we can tell you which choice to make.
Also please use text instead of Iconny, we are out of the cave. Jim
I don't understand ?

Okay, I found on the bottom of the CPAP the name AirSense10. But the humidifier comes with it, it's not separate, so cannot fill out the type of humidifier. Also, how do I find out the software?

Entered the AirSense10 to the profile. Thanks for your help :)
When was the last time you cleaned the vents on your P10? what pressure do you use?
My pressure is 9. I clean my mask and vents once a week. I clean the nasal pillow daily. I use one part vinegar and 10 parts distilled water.

I am thinking that is what is happening to me, rebreathing the CO2. I feel remarkably well today and have every day I have not used the CPAP. I have a call in to the technician to have her come out to fit me with a new mask, possibly a full face mask. I will have to order the neck brace online as I do not drive, and since they are inexpensive, will order a few different sizes.

One thing I have noted is that my eyes have been extremely dry after using the CPAP too. Wondering if the nasal pillow is somehow sending the air from the mask back into my face. Just another item I have noted.

In your profile, where you got your Iconny, is the option to use text instead of iconny, I like many refuse to click on iconny to go to another screen to see what equiptment you use when you can just use text and let us see, plus many that use Iconny post the wrong Iconny, and they all look the same. Pictograms need to be left in caves. Jim

It is the AirSense10 CPAP.
I'm so sorry, that's the junk model. If you can get them to swap it out iwth a good one, it'd be the best thing.

I still believe you may be blocking the CO2 vent somehow either positionally or with bedding, etc, which is why I suggested the collar... have you explored that any further?
If the OP is using the P10, it would be very difficult to block the vents, however, the vents could easily be clogged up if they haven't been cleaned adequately.
Where are the vents so I can check?
The vent is the mesh on either side of where the hose goes in. You should clean the mesh with dish washing soap (not hand soap) and hot water, and a tooth brush... regularly, so that the CO2 can vent out.

I'm confused, earlier you asked where the vents are, before anybody answered, you say you clean them weekly..

How are you cleaning the mesh? The reason that I'm harping on this is because the vent mesh on the p10 has been known to get clogged up with some people, causing poor venting, which can cause issues like you're describing.

It's not as total answer because many here can't read what kind equiptment they use. correctly

Okay, watched the video and located the mesh vents. Will be especially careful of these when I clean them. Thank you !!

Re: Possible CO2 issue

Post by Jo1950 » Tue Apr 17, 2018 6:15 pm

Back to my original question to the Board Members here about rebreathing CO2, just got an email from my neurologist that most certainly my symptoms are connected with not only rebreathing CO2 but with disregulation of air pressure. Migraine with aura will be triggered along with morning headache and nausea and that terrible unwell feeling that goes away around noon. He did not suggest what to do, sheesh. He only admitted this will happen. I guess he is leaving this up to his partner who is my sleep doctor. I did send a strong email to my sleep doc this evening asking him what the next steps are because I am on Medicare right now I am supposed to be using my CPAP every single night, minimum 5.5 hours.

Will call the company that is supplying my equipment to let them know this and hope my sleep doc responds tomorrow.

Today, I felt normal, well, no morning headache, no nausea, no muscle pain or spasm or unusual twitching in legs and toes and my blood pressure has been normal in the morning. I have been finding it very elevated until I stopped the CPAP.

Now it's up to my sleep doc to help me.

Thanks for listening.

Assuming you don't help yourself. Put your mask on, turn on the machine, you should be able to feel air wafting (not jetting) out of both mesh vents on the mask...

or plug the openings in the mask with your fingertips and put the mask just under the surface of a bowl of water, if you're not getting a lot of air out, your mask is clogged... clean it, or replace the mask frame.

Just got a new mask frame last week and used it one day and then woke with the same morning headache and nausea followed by feeling unwell until mid day until it wore off. Later on that day followed by migraine with aura. Same cycle.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Now wondering if it's the pressure, not enough to clear the CO2?

Jo
