F&P indicates this is normal. They also said there is a two-year warranty on this product. i would prefer it were three years or more but if there really is an excessive heat problem the unit will probably fail within that two year timeframe. Many appliances now days draw current all the time. If not remotes don't work, It is poor thinking, most XPAPs draw current and that means heat.
