air flow stutter, jerky hose

Post by bonbis448 » Thu May 17, 2018 11:38 pm

Hello, tonight when I went to use my machine, which I have had for several years.
It started jerking the tube, I felt I was not getting enough air.
I cleaned the nose piece, it felt like the side of the double pillows might be sticking and causing the air "sticking"
Then I wrote an email to the cpap address.
While I was doing that I realized that it might be the filters.
I checked them and they were dirty, so I changed them.

That seemed to clear up the problem. I am just writing because I could find no other reference to that issue.

Thanks for having a forum for users to hash out problems.

Welcome to the forum.
Frustration drove me to DESTROY a couple of hoses early on.
Congratulations on your self control.
Although some manufacturers only indicate 2x a year filter changes,
it is wisest to check the filters monthly.

How often you change the filters has a lot to do with where you live. It's not only pollution in your area. It's also pollen, smoking in adjacent residences, and even how much dust is in your bedroom.

The air you get through your CPAP is cleaner than the air you breathe in your home. The CPAP takes your home air and filters it before you breathe it.

That is, of course, correct. The point here is that the dirtier your air is, the more frequently you ought to change your filters. Ideally, change them whenever your filter is a noticeably different color than the way it came.
