Getting My Sleep Machine Evaluated Tomorrow- Recommendations?

Post by Kabuto » Sun Apr 22, 2018 5:34 pm

Hi all,

I will be getting my CPAP machine evaluated for tomorrow to check my sleep data. I'm wondering- do I need to bring in the full machines or will just the SD card suffice???

I have 2 machines, but only one SD card.

Please let me know- thanks!

(Would prefer not to lug those machines around all day on buses, but I'll do it if I need to obviously)

What machines do you have? Many machines can be set up to use cellular data to send compliance information to a server where the doctor and DME can view it.
In my experience the doctor’s office asks to bring the SD card but uses the online data.

Depends on your doctor. Our's wants us to bring in the whole machine.

Depends on the doctor...you probably should call them up and ask them.

I would bring the card.
Some doctors want all our prescriptions in original packages.
We bring a list, and they are good with that.

Two machines; one card. I wouldn't do that as the results are unpredictable. I'm not sure of either machine would jut overwrite the other, especially if they're from different manufacturers.

I can't call, they don't open until I arrive.

I guess the big question is- what data can they get from the machines that isn't simply on the SD card? I thought the SD card had all the information??

You're right, there's nothing in the machine that's not on the card. Whether they know that or not...

He's correct. However, they might want to check the machine to see if it's putting out what it's supposed to be. They stopped doing that at my sleep clinic years ago, but perhaps your still will do it.

Or the Dr may not you to adjust the machine, would rather they do it. Drs tend to keep things at the lowest common intelligence until they actually believe you have more than half a brain.

So what's the conclusion then? Bring the machines? (I mean, I'd Reallllyyyyy prefer not to lug those around town unless it truly seems beneficial...)

They can do that with the SD card. Resscan and encore both will put settings changes on the card.

I have not seen my sleep doctor since I received my machine so I may be blowing smoke, I don't know....

One benefit for bringing the machine(s) in, is that they can slap a manometer on it, and calibrate your machine. I don't really know though, if the machines go out of calibration that often, or if the RT bothers doing that. Maybe some of the people who do see their doctor more often can chime in?

Take both, but bring in the card and leave the machine in the car.
If they insist, you can get it easily--unless you took a cab.
