Pillows for Sleep Apnea

Post by ZubeDude711 » Mon Apr 23, 2018 12:34 pm

Hello All,

I have been experimenting with the number of pillows. I noticed that when I have fewer pillows and sleep on my side, I wake up less, but when I do wake up, my heart is pounding hard and I feel worse the next day. If I use three pillows, I wake up more, but with less heart pounding. Can anyone explain what is going on? Thank you.

Hey Zube,
I think what you're experiencing is the oft times positional nature of OSA. If I were to guess, perhaps laying on your side is putting pressure on your mask and effecting the seal. And while using three pillows might raise your upper body enough to improve your OSA.

I had to make an emergency family trip (2 days on a train) and actually felt pretty good with no cpap because I slept sitting up.

They actually do make cpap pillows which allow the mask to hang free of disturbance. I made my own cutting the foam till I got it right.
Good luck,
CN

I am a bit confused. I couldn't quite understand if you were asking about using pillows to treat sleep apnea and no cpap machine use or if you were wondering about pillows plus the cpap machine.

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry for the confusion. I was experimenting with the pillows and no CPAP.
