OT.....Trump falling asleep in court

Post by D.H. » Wed May 15, 2024 8:15 am

First of all, please keep partisanship and politics out of this thread. It's not about that.

Multiple reports say that Donald Trump is falling asleep in court; sometimes for up to fifteen minutes at a time. We should be questioning whether he has a sleep disorder, such as Sleep Apnea or Narcolepsy.

Should be be found guilty, the judge should order a sleep test in for the pre-sentencing report. If he's acquitted, the judge would lack the authority to order this.

Donald who? Never heard of the guy.

Everyone but the judge and the jury and the journalists (and maybe security, I guess) has the right to sleep in court any time he or she wants to.

And I believe the politically correct term for it is "resting my eyes." Much of courtroom procedure ranks right up there with watching grass grow, after all.

Sometimes justice isn't just blind but asleep. Who knows what goes on behind that blindfold, anyway?

Warning....if this thread even hints at going political it will be gone so fast your head will spin.
This is the only warning that people will get.

I've spent far too many hours in courtrooms to be "shocked" that people fall asleep in court from time to time. If your only courtroom experience is from television, you have no idea just how boring most trials can be. I've seen defendants, jurors, and judges doze off. Even saw a court reporter drift off into dreamland during a bench conference.

On a related note, When lawyers dream overnight about clients, are they supposed to bill for that time?

(Asking for an enemy.)

Other than that, I do try my best to stay completely neutral in all free-sleep issues.

I need some help here. I'm trying to create a graph.

My question is:

Does D.H.'s post represent the apogee or the perigee of his stupidity?

TIA.

Falling asleep in court is not illegal. however, it does suggest a sleep disorder.

Or simply a guy who has non-stop activities in multiple states every day. Dude probably gets 5 hours of sleep per night.

Perhaps the old "falling asleep at a traffic light" question should be replaced on the scale questionnaire?

Well
Trump’s physician, Navy doctor Ronny Jackson wrote:I would say he sleeps four to five hours a night.
While they say he's a "short sleeper", judging by what's happening (a pseudo-MSLT), doesn't look that way.

And if that's the case, he's built up a sleep debt that will NEVER get repaid.

Look at the timing on his social media postings. He doesn't sleep at night.

Trump never slept even when he was in office.
Take a look at those who post here in the middle of the nite.

What possible reason should a judge order a sleep study?

Are you suggesting that all defendants (found guilty), who fall asleep in court, be ordered to have a sleep test, or just the Donald Trump ones?
