Mask suggestions for active sleeper with chin-dropping problem and higher pressures

Post by Uff Da » Fri May 25, 2018 8:48 pm

Can anyone recommend a nasal mask that works well under all these conditions:

1. Handles pressures up to 18 without undue noise or leakage.
2. Functions well with a chin strap or cervical collar for a person whose chin consistently drops when sleeping.
3. Allows the patient to move back and forth from back to side position repeatedly without undue leaking.

I know that how a mask fits is going to vary from one person to another, but it would be nice to start with knowing that at least someone was able to meet all the conditions in one mask!

The amara veiw works fine with a collar, allows me to move around from stomach to sides and also can handle it when my pressure goes to my max every so often when I end up on my back.

The Airfit P10 works great at higher pressures ...and all the rest on your list... Most nights I hit up to 17-20

I use the Amara View up to pressures of 25 with minimal leaks and sleep on my side. Best one I have found yet. Will be trying Dreamware full face next.

I've had a lot of success with the ultimate chin strap.
Instead of Sleep apnea it should be called "Sleep deprivation, starving of oxygen, being poisoned by high CO2 levels, damaging the body and brain while it's supposed to be healing so that you constantly get worse and can never get healthy Apnea"

Doesn't that leak when you use it as a mask though? :o

haha, it's just good with Nasal, It's the only thing that's stopped slow leak for me (it covers the mouth. ) without being painful and annoying (tape.) and you can adjust the chin part just right as well.

Just verifying since the subject was defined as mask suggestions. ;)

I checked out their video and that does look like it just might be effective for my situation. Expensive for such a simple little thing, but that seems to be the case with anything related to medical. I do hope to be able to use a nasal mask with it, and it looks like that should work fine.

On the manufacturer's video, I noticed his recommendation of using a memory foam pillow, whether his or your own. I need to buy new pillows anyway, and that change might also make the problem of moving from back sleeping to side sleeping less of a problem.

LOL. Well, as it turns out, I also asked for chin strap suggestions in another recent thread, so the suggestion was appreciated no matter where it landed.

With everyone's help, I'll hopefully end up in a better place than in the mess where I started. Still had an AHI of 25+ again last night. Around 25 days or so on this thing now.
