Changing water

Post by chapa.r » Fri Jun 08, 2018 11:48 am

Hello, by any chance, how often do you add water/change. I fill up my humidifier to the top line about every three days. When i refill it is when I clean the container. Anyone else follow this practice?

I try to have barely enough water to make it through the night rather than a reservoir that has the days worth of water.

Strange thing is, when I first started using it, I could fill the machine to the broom and it would use all that water in a single night.

Now I barely use a third of the reservoir, dogs.

I dump the water every morning and dry the tank. I don't want anything growing there.

The only absolute answer about water/humidity is "it varies"... mostly depends on how humid your bedroom air is.

I top it off every evening with distilled water from my home distiller.i
If I see anything suspicious in the water when I open it up, I dump, wash, and fill with all new water.
It is rarely needed.

How long the water lasts does depend on the room humidity and temperature, as already stated.

It also depends on a lot of other factors, such as which mask you're using, the amount of leaking, and the pressure setting.

For instance if patient A has a pressure setting of 7, and patient B has a pressure setting of 15, patient B will use more water if all other factors are equal.

I put only the approximate amount of water into the reservoir that I think will be used during the night and dump any still remaining in the morning.

We top ours off every night and clean them once a month.

I change my water daily, which is essentially the "cleaning" that I do regularly. I, too, am noticing that my PR humidifier is becoming less efficient. I've been waking up lately with a dry mouth and finding very little water being evaporated from the tank. This is my latest "to do" research project.

@Chunky, are you sure that's water you're distilling?

Cheers,

MC
