Re: ESON 2 - Too Tight or Air Leaks

You're not alone. All my masks have done this to me. I can keep them from leaking while I'm still awake, but once I fall asleep and my face muscles relax, I'll wake up with air leaks from any of a variety of places. My sleepyhead data shows zero leaks one night, and the next, I've got huge leaks and...

Re: Still not feeling rested. Now having insomnia.

Again. Can't fall asleep tonight. Only thing in common is I felt decently rested this morning. Didn't feel tired at all throughout the day, and I feel like I'm having palpitations, which usually don't keep me awake.

At least I'm off today. Guess it's time for a sleep specialist follow-up.

Re: How to Sleep with BIPAP Machine

During my sleeep study and subsequent toasting study I also found it very hard to breathe in or out with a CPAP. It was like breathing through a towel. BiPAP was very natural, at least when going to sleep. Overall, I also find it harder to fall asleep with my machine than without, but you get used t...

Re: Urgent advice needed - In hospital - Lots of CA's and respiratory feels depressed

Are you on oxygen? Little known fact that too much oxygen, especially if you have COPD will depress respiratory rate. CO2 is what affects the need to breath, not oxygen. Yes! Precisely! High oxygen use lowers CO2 levels and therefore the drive to breathe. Must be cautious in patients with COPD.

Video games. Especially on PC. Yeah, I never grew up. Don't have time for much else. Have a 14 year old and a 4 year old to keep me occupied.

I do enjoy fixing small things around the house.

Are you on oxygen? Little known fact that too much oxygen, especially if you have COPD will depress respiratory rate. You on any new sedatives? Consider meds like gabapentin, Lyrica, and even antidepressants if they're new or have had a recent dose adjustment. Are you on an antibiotic? Zyvox, in par...

Re: Been on CPAP for 7 mo's - still have polyuria

Yeah, I've been pointing out to my doctor creatures that I have felt less rested than before being diagnosed, and that I'm always drowsy, especially in the evening, etc. I even switched doctors because I thought I wasn't being listened to.

Re: Still not feeling rested. Now having insomnia.

My sleep specialist was going to put me on Provigil or Nuvigil a year ago. I was starting to get desperate with the insomnia thing compounded with my normal problem of never feeling rested. I'm happy to report I haven't had any more insomnia, though, I'm back to being drowsy all day and barely able ...

Re: Been on CPAP for 7 mo's - still have polyuria

I started having urinary frequency when I started using my machine. I started having to get up at least twice during the night to pee. Symptoms only went away in the last year. I'm back to going to the bathroom just before bed and then again when I wake up in the morning. I mentioned urinary frequen...

...too scared to sleep due to the attacks and apnea, waking up in panic unable to catch my breath, heart racing thinking I would die that very moment... That's awful, and I'm sorry you experienced that. I've never felt anything off the sort. Before treatment I slept solidly the entire night. I neve...

Re: Still not feeling rested. Now having insomnia.

Thank you all for reading. Sometimes I just need to vent. I'm very tempted to quit using my machine after 4 years of using it faithfully any time I sleep; even naps. I forgot all about my last post. Ok, so after those two Thursday nights two weeks apart with insomnia, I'm back to my norm being drows...

Still not feeling rested. Now having insomnia.

I've hit the four year mark. I've used this machine faithfully every single night. I'm still exhausted every day. I usually can barely keep my eyes open by 8 or 9 pm. I'm usually too drowsy to drive late at night. Well, twice now, a couple weeks apart, for the first time in my life, I suddenly have ...

Re: Anyone here use the new Resmed F20 mask...question for you

I just switched from an F20. Mine is over a year old and there's no rip. I just find it uncomfortable. The headgear is painful. My wife just started using a cpap tonight and has the F20. Guess I'll see.

Re: RLS: Magnesium Type?

Magnesium does act as a muscle relaxer but I wouldn't have expected it to work unless your level was slightly too high. I've been a nurse 12 years and had never heard of taking magnesium for restless leg syndrome.

Re: Sleep but no rest

I'm in the same boat. I'm at 4 years and have always maintained that I rarely feel the great rest that I used to get before being diagnosed. Of course, having a kid around the start of treatment, I also rarely get to sleep the long hours I used to. My therapy has done nothing to decrease the amount ...
