because you have gerd?
i eat around 4-5 hours before going to bed
and it does help
i also elevated the top part of my bed about 6 inches on blocks
that has seemed to help as well
if you have gerd, like a lot of people with sleep apnea do
those practices help me

Usually, a whole 15 minutes, until my head hits the pillow, my last meal is pills, and a bowl of Chili. Jim

I find that 3 hours works for me. Complete dinner and last nibbles by 7:30 and lights out around 10:30. I also elevate the head of my bed about 8 inches.

YMMV.
We all "fast" while sleeping.
How much before depends on what happens after.
Heavy meals too close to beddy-bye can have painful effects, while a light snack can be a comfort.
Find your own best way. One size NEVER fits all. If needed--write stuff down.
Doesn't have to be forever--just until you find what works.

I always eat before bed...usually 30-60 minutes. Normally Cereal, ice cream or cookies and milk.

I too often find that a mug (don't need a whole bowl) of cereal and milk helps me get to sleep some nights.

No!

I try to eat 4 hours in advance most nights, but I am retired and have good control over my daily schedule. If I eat closer to bedtime, I seem to sleep and feel fine. Just don't eat a big meal close to bedtime.

In my case I found eating some ice cream and cookies lowers my AHI for that
night. I hate this knowing it's definitely bad for my weight and thus making
my AHI higher in the long term.

My doc says 3 hours. Unfortunately, my husband works late hours, and if we want to eat as a family, I hardly ever have the chance to do this. Thus, I rely on prilosec for help. Not the best situation.

Put a 4-6" block of wood under the head of the bed to keep the acid in the stomach where it belongs...not in the esophagus or throat.
