Resmed P10 Pillow Maintenance

Post by Dog Slobber » Fri Jun 22, 2018 6:27 pm

I started using the ResMed P10 Pillow mask about a month ago.

The last few days I had trouble getting a good seal. With a little research here, I recognized that this was a one of the symptoms of them wearing out. I ordered a second mask and two sets of spare pillows.

Fortunately, they arrived today, so I don't have to put up with another evening of poor leaks. Lesson learned, keep a spare set.

Anyway, I'm wondering:
  • Any suggestions for preparing a p10 pillow, prior to first use?
  • Had they not arrived in time, any suggestions to firm them up for one or two more nights.
  • Any suggestions to revitalize them for another week or so?

i can't for the life of me imagine what you are doing to these poor pillows that they only last a month before leaking! i'm on the same set of pillows that i bought in excess of one year ago.

i do very little to keep them in shape. i use lansinoh on them every night. this is a lanolin product used by nursing mothers to help with their sore nipples. it also has a slightly tacky feeling to it which i think helps seal them to my nose.

every morning when i take them off, i give them a wipe, inside and out, with a disposable and unscented baby wipe.

i think in the more than a year that i've had them, i've washed them maybe 3 or 4 times. this was a fairly quick slosh in dawn dish washing detergent.

so far, they haven't leaked!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

I found that leaks with my P10 were caused by the headband placement. I adjusted the top strap farther back and that fixed the leaks. My pillows last several months, may be 2 or 3 months.

I used my first pillow for a year an a half.

I have heard multiple people say that their pillows were leaking in a short time, and after I told them to make sure they hadn't inverted one of the inner cones while cleaning.

+1 I've had my current pillows for >6months with no issues unless my headgear slips or the inner cones are somehow out of whack. I wipe them clean daily with a Kleenex, wash them once a week or so, and have two spares at the ready just in case, but this pair is still going strong.

So
Many
Spares.

This is the *last* new mask I get and buy into peoples "Oh, the cushions are so delicate, they have to be changed soooo often.

First mask I had (mirage quattro) I bought *one* spare... never used it (four or five year, kept waiting for the first one to fail).

This time, when I finally jumped on the P10, "oh, pillows, all the time, they only last a couple weeks"... fah. maybe I'm just more gentle, not ramming a bristle brush through the pillows every day... or something :D
