horrible I don't know. could my bipap be making me feel horrible

Post by moreorless » Sun Jun 24, 2018 6:35 pm

I use bipap and I am using a dreamstation. I wake up and I have the worst pain in my front ribs and back ribs. worst gas pain, bloating, and also swollen stomach imaginable. I am not going to use this bipap today or tommorrow because I now realize its probably the bipap machine causing this problem.

the pain is so unbearable and I cry. stomach is swollen and I have gas pain, I always explained this to my doctor. I always wake up and usually drink soda, and feel better, only after drinking one liter of diet soda. this gas is horrible.
it felt like death. I am thinking its the bipap machine contributing to this horrendous bloating gas etc as well.
pressure is 20/12.
:(
ever since i been on this bipap machine nearly two years, i had pain on both right and left ribs, but never this bad, .
can it be something to do with the bipap machine. I went to sleep last night in pain with tremendous pain gas, felt like i was going to die, woke up this morning in pain.
feels like my back going to explode and front ribs. am i doing something wrong with this bipap machine.?

Sounds like gall bladder.
When mine went out, I wondered when it would kill me--and not dreading the end, because the pain was that bad.

See a doctor.
Extreme pain is a medical emergency.

the pain will start on right side in front, then back radiating and then to left side back and force with so much gas.
maybe a muscle spasm too.
i literally had to sit down calmly on a chair, wanting to cry, felt like death because the pain was so horrendous i felt like death.

so it cant be the bipap machine. I have a full face mask and am a mouth breather. I do close my mouth, I make sure when I close my mouth and I breathe through the nose and next thing I know I am sleeping but wake up with sore ribs, and back pain but never this bad, its so gassy.

could it be the pressure is to high. i just pray that this problem goes away so I am going to do a test for two days I will not use bipap machine.
and figure maybe it is the bipap machine. I have use this machine going on two years.
maybe when i sleep i am still sleeping with my mouth open, and that is somehow affecting me in some way and causing bad gas, and burping. it sucks.
I wonder if others experience muscle and rib pain in front and back. this has never been that bad. :(

What are your pressure settings? Confirm 20 inhale and 12 exhale? That's a difference of 8 cm...pretty big difference. An unusual difference unless you have special needs.
Have they changed recently?
Do you have a history of GERD or hiatal hernia or heart burn or stomach issues?
Odd that it would just now be a problem after all this time if nothing has changed in terms of pressure. Makes me wonder what other something might have changed.
Have you told your doctor about this rather sudden change? If not, you should sooner than later.

Software...so you can see the data the machine collects in detail.

See your doctor ASAP and don't accept no for an answer

I just took a quick look at your profile, and one thing jumped out at me: if you're asking if 493 (I think it was) for blood sugar is high, well... the pancreas is also on the right side, as well as the liver, and with missing your gall bladder, makes you more subject to problems that would be felt in increased severity if you're already in an unbalanced state.

My Dad died of pancreatic cancer at 66, and he was in pain for quite awhile before he decided to see a doctor. But, there may be other things that are going on, this may not be the issue, nobody online knows.

Even if you end up going off the bipap, and the pain goes away, that doesn't absolutely mean it was the cause, as it may have just made whatever is going on more readily felt.

Unfortunately, to a sleep clinic or DME, "everything is OK," often means "you're using it enough time every night that I'm still going to get paid." Even if they look a little further, the analysis is often cursory, often just checking your AHI. That's a bit like taking your pulse and blood pressure and saying you're OK.

Be very careful about what I call "apenea blindness." That's where you blame all your medical problems on apnea or CPAP. It can make you miss an unrelated medical problem that you would have caught and treated if you weren't an apneac. Doctors often suffer from apnea blindness as much as their patients. They sometimes see an apneac first and a human second.

Be sure you don't have an unrelated problem that you're blaming on CPAP.

Good luck. Unfortunately, you have to do a lot to manage your own health care, even without apnea blindness. Doctors tend to have a lot of other blind spots as well.
