Re: O.T. What's the pH of your poop?

Depends.. on what I eat!

(At least, that’s my best guess in the end, as I’ve never worried about measuring that).

Re: Straying FAR from the norm with settings, but positive results

It appears you've got it dialed in to where it works well for you (It appears to have a low AHI with the information visible). It doesn't matter if it doesn't meet with other's approval for the range, it matters that you get good results for you. If that's the range that helps you get the best sleep...

Re: Lost 50 lbs and now CPAP killing me

Short of liposuction or an amputation, losing 50 pounds isn't a sudden event: "soon after I lost 50 pounds" what happened in that timeframe besides losing weight? I have Meniere's, which comes in many forms in how it affects people for the small details: it can suddenly make itself very apparent whe...

Re: Prevalence of "Moderate-to-Severe OSA" in the 40-85-Yrs. General Population

Blood O2 is NOT an appropriate test for screening for OSA, since a negative result proves absolutely NOTHING about sleep. Talk about a lame test! It has value of its own where an AHI by itself isn’t the most meaningful because it’s so low: a full sleep test is better, sure, and measures more, but k...

Re: extremely low tidal volume

Minute vent is tidal volume multiplied by respiration rate, and as long as you get enough minute vent, you won’t be starving for air.

You need to get your leaks down, from what’s visible, but otherwise, doesn’t seem crazy.

Re: Can't tolerate mask when waking during the night

Based on your graphs, 2 things stand out: It’d be good to resolve the leak issues, as that may be quite disruptive to your sleep quality: YMMV. If you set your minimum pressure at 8, you’d likely feel more like you’ve got enough air, and from the data, it seems likely that’d get your AHI down lower,...

Re: Does keeping the machine slightly tilted impact humidifier performance?

Pedantically-speaking, it will affect it ever so slightly: a different area of the humidifier water will be exposed compared to what it’d be if perfectly level, but odds are you aren’t able to perceive any difference.

For a given volume of water it's faster/easier with a larger area exposed.

Re: How To Avoid Back Sleeping?

A solution I've found that works is surprisingly simple and comfortable, depending on your couch: sleep on a couch where you don't have a deep enough space to sleep on your back, made easier by having hands hanging over the side. No crazy uncomfortable tennis balls, no backpacks, nothing crazy neede...

Re: New to this and confused?!

I find Dreaming1’s assessment bizarre at best: insurance companies don’t want to cover xpap at all if they can avoid it, but the AHI is high enough to be more than clinically required to need treatment, without even considering the desats seen, and when combined with the other data, those desats are...

Re: OT - Whatever Goes - Nobody nose thread

I assert more negative things unintended have happened and persist in happening here, and thus far, this is at least perfectly innocent, though it appears to be nothing more than a distraction and a waste of resources thus far: at least it hasn't gone negative.. yet!

Re: Be Careful with Vit D Supplementation and Calcium Supplementation

I think something vital has been overlooked here and that is vitamin K. Without the proper amount of vitamin K in your diet high the calcium will not be used properly and may be deposited in tissues other than your teeth and bones . This can especially cause a build up in your artery walls. More pr...

I like the pink hose cover. When I first learned my wife was getting a machine, I ordered pink strap pads and pink hose cover for her. We now have a pink hose running up over the headboard on one side of the bed and a blue one on the other. Thanks. I am a big fan of pink. I was a redhead and couldn...
