SD Card/Sleepyhead - Swapping Machine

Post by Setj » Mon Jun 25, 2018 8:24 am

I use two ResMed S9 AutoSet machines in rotation. After a couple of years of cajoling, my wife (bad snorer) has agreed to use one of my machines.

Each machine includes an SD card with my data for the respective periods used. What should I do with the card in the machine my wife will use? Should I reformat it before she uses it? (I am not concerned with my compliance data.)

Thanks!
Seth

I would be careful reformatting an S9 card on a PC. Is there a menu option on the S9 to erase the card? If so, you could use that.
You should be able to setup a new Profile in SleepyHead for your wife if you are sharing the application.

EDIT: Look at post 2 in this thread. viewtopic/t50940/S9-Question-on-formatt ... -card.html

One night of use or longer?
It's not just the SD card with data on it...it's the machine also. Even if you erase the SD card the machine is going to put the data it stores right back on the blank card. For a true clean report you would need to erase both.
So for long term use the data will be mixed if looking at anything other than the nightly detailed report.
So I guess it depends on if you anticipate more than just one night or not.

When I loan out my spare machine I always send it totally blank...machine and card. I don't want anything clouding the data.
But for a family member and screening like this and the fact that a one night detailed report might be all I need I would probably just leave both the card and the machine alone. I can easily just evaluate one or two nights.

Why the caution? I have done it (use a PC to delete files on a SD card) too many times to count and no problem at all. Not a big deal.
But yes, the S9 does have an option to erase the data on the card but then it just puts the data stored in its internal memory right back on the SD card.

When using my PC...all I ever did was just delete the files on the card. Didn't ever bother with special formatting...it's not needed.
The S9 (or any machine) will do what it might need to the SD card anyway.
A person can make more work out of it if they want to but its not needed.
Highlight the file/folder....right click...delete...and done.

OK. I was thinking about the card locking needed to read the card into SleepyHead.

I stand corrected, then.

Thanks. That's the way I'll go. We will probably be looking at it nearly every day in SH until I can get her titrated. (I'm 99.97% sure she has sleep apnea.)
