2) My OSA therapy is all about FL's - are they accurately monitored in home studies?
Depends on how comprehensive the home study might be...if they do any flow limitation data gathering at all. I don't know if flow limitations are part of what the most comprehensive Type II home study includes in the data it gathers. I don't think so though.

Go here and read about the various levels of home studies...the more it costs...the more comprehensive the home study is.

A local DME sells a 2 night home sleep study for $296. I am seriously considering doing this just to see where I stand
Be sure and ask just what type of study you get for $296....
Thanks Pugsy. I'll read up and ask the questions. After checking back here. 🙂

As pugsy and others have always said you can not make decisions based on one nights worth of data. :D also did you feel better right away when you started cpap? Because I don't imagine you would feel poorly with only one partial night without.
Don't forget that my treated asleep AHI is zero nearly every night. For a long time now. This single night is just a sort of confirmation of what I've been mulling over for :weeks now. This isn't a one night thing at all.:D

Ive got a list of cons. But that's going to have to wait for tomorrow night. Its bedtime for djams.

How about trying a night or two at P=4? It won't necessarily be conclusive, but it will provide data.

1) Are they complete enough to make the final determination on this? Would I really need a full PSG to find out?
2) My OSA therapy is all about FL's - are they accurately monitored in home studies?
3) (and most importantly) Would you be having these same thoughts if you were in my shoes? I really wanna know if I'm just way out in left field here.
Didn't you get kicked outta the bedroom for snoring and making other noises?

cpap keeps you in bed.

I thought of this as well. I recently had trouble falling asleep at 6 - so It'd be an extended slow ride down to get there. And this would probably be very informative itself.

Well, I got abandoned actually. But same thing. Snoring is one of my biggest concerns. I've got a snoring detector that's been tested for 35 years. She's very reliable. As one of the most frequent alarms from my monitor was "djams!!!!! roll over and shut your mouth!". (<--- this comes with random shaking, slapping, punching and kicking), I'm thinking that if I keep taping, I won't do much snoring. I certainly won't put my wife through that again.

Also, had the recent big mouth leak night where I decided not to re-tape my mouth when I returned to bed. And this reminded me of exactly how I felt every single morning before PAP. I'm keeping this all in mind. Not sitting here fervently hoping I can stop - just really curious. Therapy doesn't bother me in the least.

Let me just start this post by emphasizing: I am fully aware that I am talking about my *treated* AHI in the post.
yeah,yeah,yeah....
I failed to mention the key element - i would indeed continue wearing the scunci too. So there, you need to get on board here zonker. Can't even consider doing this without your support and encouragement.

Least supportive post I've seen you make, and you did it to your buddy djams. C'mon man, how about a happy gif? Gimme some love here.

So, you think you might be able to treat your SDB effectively with just tape and a Scuncii? After the 27 pages it took to get your treatment dialed in, I'm a little skeptical :)

Ok, in that case, I think the answer is clear.

Forget about doing a home sleep test, forget aout worrying if they're accurate, forget about "how bad is my apnea" or "do I really need this for blah blah blah".

You *need* it to maintain domestic harmony and allow your darling wife to sleep well by your side.

People that snore (even without apena) can benefit from using cpap for multiple reasons, 1) snoring, in and of itself is bad for your health, because it increases the work of breathing, and reduces the recuperative effects of sleep. and 2) it disturbs those around you.

Accept my apologies for delayed response here. It's been a long and trying week, and more important things have consumed my time.

So I've done Pugsy's assigned reading. And it just reinforced what a naive newbie I still am. The 2 night sleep study is of course the type that provides the least data. It's nothing more than a way to get someone scheduled for a real PSG in the lab. (meaning... spend more money). And then the titration (even more money...). What a racket.

And guess what? (this is the real kicker). When I dialed the number for this "DME", turns out that I already had it stored as a contact in my phone! Yes... it rang through to my very own sleep factory. What a racket. Did a little digging, and it appears that this DME is closely associated with my sleep mill. Closely enough that the number was stored in my contacts as "Sleep Dr". Did I mention racket? ah, yes I did. Good... good...

Anyways....

I was going to give my list of pros and cons. To be cute, because the cons list just dwarfs the pros. But I think it's not really necessary to do that. :D

I appreciate all of your responses, as always!
