Dreamstation recall replacement arrived

Post by veglasagna » Thu Mar 17, 2022 9:16 am

Today I received my Dreamstation recall replacement from Phillips. They only sent the main part, the blower part. They did not send a replacement humidifier. Is that what other people are getting too, or should I have gotten a humidifier also?

When you get the new one, are you all calling the DME or your pulmonary doctor to let them know that you got it? I think my DME had installed a modem or something on my original one.

Thank you for your help!

What did you receive? It sounds like you received a Dreamstation 1. They have a built in cellular modem. Nothing needs to be installed by your DME.

Ford recently had a recall because of faulty tires.

Ford owners only received replacement tires, they didn't get new vehicles with the replacement tires.

The question there is whether the old humidifier will work with the new machine? If it doesn't, I would call that the equivalent of replacing the tires with ones that wouldn't fit the original vehicles' wheels. After all, the tires were faulty, not the wheels . . .

Why should people have to pay Philips to buy new humidifiers????

No, that was not the question.

Let me provide the questions:

And the tires fit just fine.

I talked to my DEM and they told me that I needed to keep the following out of my original.

The Harddrive
The Filters
The SD card
and the Humidifyer and tank.

These are not things that are being replaced.

I got just the DS1 blower, power cord, new carry bag, one filter, and a non-heated hose. I was told to use my old stuff for the rest. Now I have to ship ( at Philips cost) old DS1 back. I can keep any other item other than the body. I have already hacked the plastic fan casing that held the foam and thats in the old unit. The DS1 I got was manufactured in Nov ‘21, so all good. Zero blower hours.

Just curious, but when was your recalled unit manufactured?

Based on others comments, it looks like Phillips might be replacing DS1s in reverse order. (Newest DS1s being replaced first)

My husband received his replacement Dreamstation bipap a few months ago. They did not send the humidifier part either, probably because there is no foam there and it is perfectly safe to use.
