Re: Plastic inside mouth to stop leaks?

If your current mask is doing well and not leaking excessively but mouth leaks are the issue, you could try the Oracle 2 mask. The mouth piece has and inner and outer flap system the effectively seals the air in. To make this work you need to: Get an Oracle mask, discard everything but the inner and...

Re: Dreamstation Bipap AutoSV PLOTS DISABLED

In spite of the strong support for SleepyHead and OSCAR, there is another workable choice, Encore Pro.
If you have a Windows machine (if not its not an alternative), go to the Apnea Board web page for download instructions.
BTW, I use both.

Re: Experiencing a very weird issue, desperately in need of advice

Your breath rate at night seems to be in a normal range - at least my pulmonologist says so for mine which is similar to yours. Messing with the mask ventilation is dangerous - only do that with the guidance of your pulmonologist/sleep doctor. It increases the retention of CO2. You may very well hav...

Re: Humidifier almost empty after 1.5 hours of sleep

Just speculating: Cold air is dryer than warm air and would cause a higher evaporation rate in the humidifier. It shouldn't be this dramatic though. Are you experiencing rainout (excessive condensation) in your mask? Check to see if there is a tiny leak in the humidifier tank or signs of leakage at ...

Re: Unable to find a Mask that works

You seem to be the ideal patient for the Oracle 2 mask - can't or doesn't breathe via nose, needs a CPAP machine. Take a look at the link in my signature block. If you need help making the Oracle work, send me a PM and we'll get there. The Oracle mask is the only one I use and have been using it sin...

Re: I want to share an interesting information for you

+1 for LSAT's comment. You may be able to either use a liner or make one that fits between the mask and your nose. That would be the best choice. If that fails and you absolutely, positively cannot get a regular FFM or nasal mask to work without leaking or pain, then you might look at the Oracle 2 o...

Re: aerophagia and snoring - related?

ChicagoGranny - I've been on CPAP for over nine years, ASV for 5 and the VS reports are a relatively new phenomenon for me. Because real snoring is related to hypopneas, I experimented with increasing my EPAP pressure to see if the rate of VS being reported would decrease. In fact, it increased some...

aerophagia and snoring - related?

Does anyone suffering from aerophagia who uses a CPAP also have a high level of snoring (VS on a Respironics machine)? If so, do you have an explanation about how this happens? In the last year of so, after my catastrophic pneumothorax, the VS parameter has been reporting in the 20-35/hour range (pr...

Re: About to buy a Resmed ASV out of pocket. Is this the right decision?

Looking over your posts, it looks like you are changing pressures, expecting a miracle and then changing pressures again the next day. To get the most knowledgeable folks to concentrate on helping you, here are some things to do and report. 1) Use the OSCAR enlargement function to expand the Flow Ra...

Re: About to buy a Resmed ASV out of pocket. Is this the right decision?

Wait a few more days and use the time to drill down on the flowrate graph to see if they are real CAs or just trash. I can't tell from the high level report that you posted. A real one would look more like: https://sleepjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/what-is-csa.jpg Where the breathing actua...

Re: New auto-SV user checking in

Welcome to the ASV club. This is a journey and not a cure. There will be up and downs but hang in there and it will get better. My experience with fitting masks is to set the machine to the highest prescribed pressure and then lie down, no pillow, and hold the mask to your face. Gently, adjust, and ...

Without getting into the really high priced stuff, a fingertip CMS50 series is the way to go for SpO2 measurement. https://www.amazon.com/CONTEC-CMS50F-oximeter-monitor-software/dp/B0796QYM8R/ref=sr_1_3?hvadid=77859198481865&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvqmt=e&keywords=cms50f+pulse+oximeter&qid=1563237761&s=ga...

Re: Initial Sleep Study Results

Going directly to a CPAP machine bypasses the pressure titration that would allow the machine correctly to fit your treatment needs. That's OK if the machine you get or are provided is an auto machine that can be used to do the titration and figure out your correct pressures. Using the CPAP (with ef...
