Hi, I've lurked on this forum off and on the past year and am so thankful for the info I've picked up from here. I'm a 10+ yr CPAP user. Last sleep study about 5 yrs ago had my pressure set at 14. Recently updated my equipment to an Airsense 10 auto and have found I'm averaging a 10-11 pressure and feel so much better. AHI is averaging .8 where as before at the higher pressure I was averaging a little over 2. So glad I elected to get the auto. CPAP has changed my world.
The reason I join was to ask a question about equipment for my wife. She also has been a CPAP user for many years and wanted to update her equipment as well but due to her high deductible it has made it impossible for us to pay out of pocket. We have looked at used equipment (understanding the possible pitfalls) and have found an AirCurve 10 VAuto with under 500 hrs on it for $300. I've plugged it in and tested it with mask along with checking the actual hrs. (468) While I understand the Aircurve is a auto adjusting bilevel would I be able to set it up reasonable similar to her CPAP (Remstar Pro M) ? Her current setup is 11.5 CmH20 - C Flex 2 - Ramp 15 min - Ramp start pressure 5.0 and an average ahi of .9.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: Intro and an AirCurve question
The AirCurve 10 VAuto has 3 modes available for use.
CPAP mode which is a fixed single pressure mode just like she is using on her M Series Pro machine.
Bilevel S mode which is a fixed bilevel pressure mode
and of course Bilevel auto mode which is auto adjusting bilevel pressures
Do you have the clinical/provider manual which explains all the features?
If not you can request it here
https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap- ... tup-manual
And yes...easily configured to function like the Pro machine simply by using cpap mode because that's all the Pro machine did anyway.
Some minor differences with the exhale relief function but easily worked around and adjusted to..
or go wild and make use of the auto mode and maybe get by using less pressure.
Lots of good options to try.
Heckuva deal on that machine...

Re: Intro and an AirCurve question
Thanks for the info. No Clinical manual so I requested one from the link provided. Thank you so much for that.
The ladys AD had the unit listed as an AirSense 10 Auto and wanted $350. I was surprised when I went to look at it. Even more surprised when I offered her $300 and she took it. (Don't tell her but I would have paid the $350 she was asking. lol)
I'll set the wife up in CPAP for tonight and maybe try some minor adjustments this wkend and see if we can dial her in with AUTO.

Re: Intro and an AirCurve question
Well, you could set it up exactly like her old machine, but that Vauto is SO much more of a machine... (I know, I started on a Pro M)Allofus12345 wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2019 2:53 pmWhile I understand the Aircurve is a auto adjusting bilevel would I be able to set it up reasonable similar to her CPAP (Remstar Pro M) ? I'd set it up for
Mode: Vauto
MinEPAP 10
MaxIPAP 25
PS 2
If she wants ramp, then go ahead and set up the ramp at 5.
Those pressures should be very similar to what she's used to.
Post some data after a few days.

Re: Intro and an AirCurve question
First I want to thank everyone for all of the help here. Taking more control of our therapy vs the once a year pie chart reading doctor assessments has been life changing. This aircurve unit is a beast. The amount of "control" is wonderful. Its a bit daunting at first to say the least.
The wife says she feels very good with the settings we currently have it set up with. We did not have access to Sleepyhead info with our previous units so this is all a learning curve for us in reading the charts. My limited knowledge tells me her Saturday night was excellent and Fridays was pretty good as well. I usually don't change whats not broken but wanted to post up the two nights of her sleep and get the input of the more experienced. Any recommended changes? Small tweaks?

I would leave things well enough alone for now if it were me.
Give her time to really adjust to the new way of doing things. Nothing urgently needs to be changed.

happy wife, happy life! seriously, if she(or anyone) is sleeping well, waking up refreshed and has no problem during the day, THIS is what cpap therapy is all about.Allofus12345 wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2019 9:13 am
